I'm going to see David Sedaris: any questions for him?

I’m going to hear David Sedaris read his work in Athens, GA, tomorrow night. The last 30 minutes or so is Q&A with the audience and I can’t think of anything I particularly want to ask. Does anybody have any questions they’d like me to convey?

I just finished Naked by Mr. Sedaris. I’m curious about his apple picking experience - is it something he would recommend for young people looking to make new friends and earn a nice living? Seriously, just tell him how great he is.
The fondness he has for his mother - who seems to have been the humorous core of the family - is really touching.

How has he managed to keep his family from disowning him, that’s what I want to know.

Would you ask him how his French is coming along? Also, will you ask him how his sister Tiffany, I think --she’s the slob, right?-- is doing?

I’m very jealous, by the way. Will he be in the States for a while?

His sister is Amy Sedaris. Of Strangers with Candy. The man is positively normal comparatively…

You could try a similar question my bookclub asked Michael Chabon.

We’d just finished his book Cavalier and Clay. Prior we’d read Maus. We usually try to ready in threes, and asked him if he had any books similarly themed to recommend…

His response was something along the lines of “so you guys are doing the holocaust comic book cycle? What kind of book club is this?”

(He couldn’t come up with anything to complete the comic book/Holocaust cycle. We read Carter Beats the Devil, which was a nice companion to Cavalier and Clay.)

Seriously, ask him what other authors and work he feels would be good companion pieces to what he writes. Its always interesting to hear the answer.
