…In March.
Even without Kim Deal (:() I’m still stoked. It will be inthis venue, more of an intimate thing, I’m given to understand. My wife has just gotten the tickets - love her so much!

No one’s replied because we are jealous and we hate you.
That’s amazing. I saw them when they got together in… 04? And did a reunion tour. It was awesome, I’m sure that this will be too. Have fun. Report back.
You owe your wife big time, tickets for Cape Town are already sold out.
Joburg still has tickets but I can’t justify flying up just for a concert.
Enjoy!
I see the pixies every night around 11, after I’ve finished the second bottle of wine.
I saw them on the reunion tour in 2004 with Mission of Burma. Great show, bring earplugs.
This.
Sorry to hear that, mate. A few of my friends are in the same boat. The scalpers on gumtree must be doing a roaring trade already.
I saw them the second time around–bought the tix for the 2004 show, but ended up traveling, so had to give them away. Saw them maybe three years later? Something like that. It was the Doolittle-full-album tour. Kim Deal was with them. A solid, professional show–very tight. I kind of wish I saw them in their heyday when they were perhaps a bit more raw, but I’m glad I managed to see them eventually. Earplugs are always a good idea, but where I saw them, it wasn’t obnoxiously loud like a My Bloody Valentine concert or anything.

A good friend of mine is an acquaintance of Charles (Black Francis/Frank Black) and gets us free tickets whenever he comes around. A few tours ago we got to hang out with him for a couple of hours. He rarely says anything on stage, but I can attest that he is very, very nice in person.

Lucky!! I love the Pixies, Frank Black and the Breeders. Teenager of the Year is one of my favorite albums of all time.
I saw Frank Black on his Cult of Ray tour - it was fantastic. Then, I saw the Pixies during one of their reunion shows - 2005’ish and it was great as well. Both shows in fairly small venues.
I’m jealous.
Lucky !
Great band!
Have fun!
Re Kim Deal: I got to see the Breeders in a smallish venue during the Title TK tour. KD was rocking a pair of mom jeans like nobody’s business. Only strengthened my decades-long crush.
I haven’t kept up with the post-Deal Pixies ouvre, but I think I’ll give it a whirl now that you’ve reminded me to - thanks (or curses, depending ;))
Pixies, no “the,” if I’m allowed to be pedantic. Although they don’t enforce it as strongly as say, Talking Heads.
I haven’t seen them but I’ve seen the Breeders twice. Those Deal sisters can chainsmoke something fierce.
No joke, Roger Miller gave himself tinnitus.
That’s normally absinthe and fairies.
I saw them on a dream-bill back in 1990(?) with Primus and Jane’s Addiction. I still can’t believe how wall-to-wall awesome it was.
Indeed. If you look at the title on the tab of their website, it says “The Pixies.” They are not 100% consistent themselves on it.
ETA: Or note this archived page.
Going to see them tonight in Santa Cruz…first time for me…
I’d really like to see the Pixies for the first time. Again.
God, they were sensational live, they were even amazing at the gig where they only played two and a bit songs.
They came to the Hollywood Palladium a few years back with Kim Deal playing all of Doolittle, start to finish. I was unemployed and broke and was sure I was going to miss it. They day of the show, while having a beer with my friend I mentioned they were in town. She immediately bought tickets for both of us and my sister. It was one of the best surprises and greatest shows ever. Every day since has been worse.
