Well, Break My Body! Pixies reunion tour & album?

There may be another thread on this somewhere, but I couldn’t find it. If so, please provide a link to it and I’ll request this one be closed.

A lot of sites, eg here are reporting as fact that the Pixies are reuniting and will be touring in April and following it up with a studio album (and a “Black Francis Black” solo album!).

True, false? Good idea, bad idea? Will you go see them?

Hell yes I’ll go see them!!

Without a doubt I will go. They remain one on a very short list of bands that I love that I have never seen.

There was indeed a prior thread about this, but I can’t find it. And yes, I’m psyched; the Pixies are my favorite band ever, and I’ve loved Frank Black’s solo stuff as well (though it’s not much like the Pixies). So hell yes, I’ll be there.

I had a chance to see the Pixies in '89 in Atlanta. I’d never heard of them, so my friend who had invited me played Doolitte for me. I totally didn’t get it, hated it, and didn’t go. Needless to say, a couple years later when I finally caught on to the Pixies there was much head-slapping on my part.

I’d go. Unless I had a broken face. Uh huh! Uh huh!

…saw them twice in 89…once with about 50 others at the historic CITY GARDENS in trenton NJ…and then later on that year at GIANTS STADIUM opening for Love & Rockets and the Cure…good times…i miss the 80’s

The rumors have been floating around for months. There was a lot of speculation, until the announcement was official just a few days ago…
Press Release

They are even appearing in Norway! At an outdoor festival though (Quart AKA hell on fucking earth), but I’ll be there.

Still, I hope they never set foot inside a recording studio.

Same here. It was around '90 or '91, and they were playing at the Georgia Theater in Athens. I had seen the video for “Here Comes Your Man” on MTV and loved it, so I went out and bought Doolittle, and was so anxious to hear it I listened to it in the school library instead of waiting to get home. I remember actually saying out loud, “What the hell is this crap?” It didn’t sound anything like “Here Comes Your Man!” I didn’t buy tickets to the show. Months later, I hear Trompe Le Monde playing in a record store, decide to give them another chance, and become a huge, huge, obsessive fan. Not long after, they broke up. As you say, much head-slapping on my part.

I’d love to see them perform now that I’m older and wiser, but I’m too pessimistic about getting tickets. It’s going to be very difficult, I predict. I wonder how much they’re going to go for? At this point I’m figuring that at the very least the new DVD sounds interesting.

Why’s that? You didn’t like Trompe Le Monde, or you don’t think they could come up with something as good nowadays, or some other reason?

hell yeah!

frank black’s solo stuff is awesome, but i definitely regret never seeing the pixies live. there are so many bands that i figured i’d just “get around to” seeing and never did… the clash, uncle tupelo, nirvana… :frowning: the pixies…

but wait! now i get a second chance!!! yay!

No, I like ‘Trompe Le Monde,’ don’t get me wrong, but with the exception of Wire, I can’t think of a single band that has made good music after that many years of being apart. Call me pessimistic.

To hear them play together again will be great.

Kim Deal put out a great breeders album in 2002, but i think she played guitar on that. Will she impact the new Pixies as much when she’s back on bass duties?
