I'm going to undertake a six-month occult ritual - ask me anything

Well, you seem to have a misogynist and a half-crazed publicity hound to back you up, so who am I to stand in your way?

This reads like a thread shit and like being a jerk. Please drop it.

Can you actually do this while posting on this message board and posting YouTube updates? I am not seeing where you are shutting yourself off from society at all.

Once I begin I will be posting my updates but I will not be responding to them. Any communication I have is going to be one-sided. Consider it a form of journaling.

Have others attempted this endeavor while staying in electronic contact with others to show them the journey?
The one link I’ve checked out, The Book of Abramelin - Wikipedia, seems to show that it is a more solitary journey than what you tell us.

Yes. There are some very lengthy Abramelin diaries on Youtube if you wish to look for them. Here’s one such playlist;

And here is one of the diary entries made during the ritual: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fbzr4tevARs

Yep. Still not a joke. I’m committed to this and I’m going to see it through.

This sounds like you are starting a serious journey, and I wish you success. Seriously.

But I would like offer a light hearted comment about something very ironic which just happened to me while reading this thread:
My phone’s screen showed me not one, but two pop-up ads from a Jewish organization called “The International Network of Orthodox Mental Health Professionals”..

There are lots of ways to seek spiritual answers. If this Abramelin ritual works for you, go for it.

In general, Eastern religions tend to stress individual ascetic practices, and western religions use more group-oriented prayers and rituals. Specifically, Judaism requires participating in a group of 10 for many rituals.

I’ll be looking forward to whatever you post for the six months.

Have you read this, @Smapti? I promise it does become relevant.

Did Madonna put you up to this? I bet she did. She’s a real card, I love her.

I was so very relieved when that fad ended. As I said, we can debate just who exactly is qualified to practice Kabbalah. I think we can all agree that I am not qualified and Madonna is definitely not qualified.

::gasp:: Just like the old gypsy woman said!

I thought that word was considered somewhere between outdated and offensive now. Then again, I have been wrong a staggering number of times this year.

I think you’re 100% correct. I should have put quotes around the phrase. I will flag myself.

Moderating:

yes, that word is now considered offensive by many. I don’t think putting quotes around it really helps. Maybe, “just like the old fortune teller said”?

I’ll blur the word for you.

“YOU’RE NOT MY SUPERVISOR!”

I mean “thanks.”

I knew Madonna’s Kabbalah instructor! He was a Marine and a biker who immigrated to Israel, opened the country’s first Harley-Davidson dealership, went bankrupt, and got deeply into Kabbalah to the point where his wife kicked him out and he ended up back in the States teaching mysticism to celebrities. Nice guy, and a total nutjob.

That’s an interesting way of thinking about it!

In this video I talk a little more in depth about what the day-to-day aspects of the ritual entail and about the requirements to carry it out and tools necessary (and show off my nifty robes).
