I'm going to virtue signal right now: BLM

100% true story:

I went on a walk through my neighborhood today listening to a podcast on my headphones. The host said they were going to go silent for 8 minutes, 46 seconds, the time the cop had his knee on George Floyd’s neck.

My first instinct was “AH I agree black lives matter, and I am short on time. I’ll just fast forward through this so I can listen to the rest of the podcast.”

Just then, I looked to my right and saw a black family gathered on their driveway.

A sign from God is a sign from God.

I let the podcast play.

Good on you.
Little things matter.

Was the podcast by any chance Friday’s Jim Cornette Experience? What Jim said before the silence seemed to really be from the heart.

It was. Jim should do a politics only Podcast. I’d like to direct more of my same-thinking friends to listen to him but most of them are not pro wrestling fans.

That’s cool.

I don’t know if I would skip ahead or not. Right now, as I write this, I’m troubled enough by the death, and It’d be difficult to examine what he must’ve gone through. It’s not personal. It’s not that I can’t take that much time out of my life. I just don’t see it helping anything to upset myself more, currently.

I say there’s a difference between skipping the silence because “fuck all that / I’m tired of hearing about this shit / I don’t care about what happened” vs. skipping it because you’re upset, you’ve informed yourself about the facts, and now you’re burned out on the topic for a moment.

Personally, I absolve thee MyFootsZzzz and decree that thou art still a decent person.

To the O.P. - I’m the lapsediest of lapsed Catholics, but sometimes, a mystical nudge cannot be ignored.

A comedy podcast (The Complete Guide To Everything) didn’t release their usual podcast yesterday. Instead they released a short statement explaining how they didn’t feel appropriate “being funny” with what was currently going on.
