:dubious: And how well did that work out for Nixon?
My point was to positively wish for his failure is to fall into the same sort of irrational evil that they accuse Trump.
Nobody is “wishing” for Trump to be irrational, narcissistic, dishonest and dictatorial. We very much wish that he were not that way, but we don’t get a choice in the matter. That’s who he is.
And given that he is that way, it is neither irrational nor evil to wish for him to be forced out of office by the consequences of his own behavior.
That’s a very good point. Many of the rubes who voted for him were motivated by anti-government zeal to intentionally elect a loose cannon who would break all the rules and turn government on its head. And now they’ve got one, and sane adults are trying to figure out how the nation can survive it.
Right wing fake newsman and agent provocateur James O’Keefe (we all know that walking shit stain) has been caught attempting to bribe “protesters” to riot at Trump’s inauguration.
Then these bastards could have pointed at the libruls and said even more stupid shit, and maybe justified even more of their “straight talk” (all the shit flinging that only they are allowed to spew).
But he got caught (again).
They want to create an incident. the Burning Of The Reichstag comes to mind.

And people said I was crazy when I suggested that something similar might have been behind that Muslim woman in New York who claimed a gaggle of trumplodytes assaulted her on the subway. The “double reverse” false flag is a real thing.
According to this, the 2016 election had higher turnout than the 2012 election.
Furthermore, Trump garnered almost 940K more votes than Bush did in 2004. McCain and Romney garnered fewer votes than did either Trump did this year or Bush did in 2004 (McCain got about 2M less votes than Trump, and Romney got about 3M less votes than Trump). Hillary garnered slightly less votes than Obama did in 2012 (by about 70K).
All in all, compared to the 2008 election turnout was down, but compared to the 2012 election, turnout was up.
For a board dedicated to “fighting ignorance”, y’all sure do promote a lot of it.
The 2008 election was an anomaly. Or, more succinctly, a novelty election, where people who don’t normally vote and are disconnected from politics, voted. The Democratic base voted for Hillary-- she did about as well as Obama in 2012 (she only received about 70K less votes than he did in his reelection bid).
The idea that Hillary didn’t win because she didn’t excite the base really isn’t born out of fact.
On another note, I guess we can argue that there really were Republican voters who stayed home in 2008 and 2012. Granted, it probably wouldn’t have made a difference in 2008, but it potentially could have made a difference in 2012.
You live in Canada, and you quite literally are ruled by a “TV star who’s living off his father’s accomplishments”. You really can’t call anyone “abjectly stupid”.
Trump actually accomplished something before his venture in politics. Trudeau accomplished… nothing and is in his position because his father was popular. I’m confident Bryan voted for him, which makes its funny how he’s criticizing Trump.
As an aside, most everyone who has ever sat down with him has said he’d smart, friendly, not at all racist/sexist/whatever and willing to work with people to get crap done.
I really don’t understand the meltdown on the left. Trump is saying the exact same things he said ten twenty thirty years ago, and at one point the left were quite fond of the things he said. He holds the same positions as the left on infrastructure, trade and healthcare, is less socially conservative than most of his conservative peers and, unlike his general election opponent, is less of a war hawk.
I can’t but help feel that if Trump had a D next to his name, you wouldn’t see anywhere near the freak out on the left that you’re seeing now.
Just about the answer that a deluded Trump follower would say. Remember, I did not said that Fred Trump was a member of that racist organization, but the reality is that Fred Trump’s behavior on not renting to blacks showed where his sympathies were when he was arrested then, he was let go for not being part of the violence then, but more damming was that the evidence from the census showed that Donald Trump lied also about where his father was living when the arrest of the Klansman took place.
A father that was Just a buddy to them at least. And something that the father of the Canadian leader never was.
Trump became big in politics by spreading evidence-free racist conspiracy theories. He was either stupid enough to believe them with no evidence or cynical enough to spread racist bullshit for his own gain. He deserves a ton of criticism for that alone, which he never apologized for.
You mean when he said to kill the families of ISIS fighters?
Bring back torture worse than waterboarding?
Asked why he couldn’t use nukes in response to a terrorist attack?
And if he had a D after his name, I would still consider him a danger to this country, if not the world.
Buying and investing in NY properties during the 70s and 80s. Testifying, for lack of a better word, before the House on economic policies in the late 80s/early 90s. Those sorts of things.
As to your snide remark, what someone chooses to do with the money they make is their choice. If he wants gold plated toilets and he can afford to buy and install gold plated toilets, well, what’s wrong with that? These weak attacks against how he chooses to spend the money he’s earned is sad.
Did you miss his “insurance for everybody” quote? You guys harp on everything else. How could you miss that?
Oh? So now you’ve got a problem with his cabinet picks who believe in a strong NATO? Or are you simply trying to find anything to attack the man over?
Ever heard that bit about a house divided against itself? I believe that the Trump government cannot endure, permanently, half stupid (Trump) and half more reasonable against the leader.
Nobody suggested that, certainly not me. But I don’t think mocking him will make any positive difference. He won’t hear most of it, and I very much doubt he will do anything in response that will result in his downfall. I think the idea that mockery will be useful is mostly about people wanting to feel like they are achieving something.
