Still waiting for answers…
At least people deny that they are racists. Which only took about fifty years. But that’s something! Sorta kinda. I guess.
That’s. The. Point.
We want him to lash out. We want him to do increasingly erratic things. That allows us to set up his impeachment or declaration of being mentally unfit. There’s really no downside for either party for Trump to be impeached or declared unfit. Republicans still remain in charge. And Democrats stop Trump. It’s win-win.
I fucking hate it when people act like you’re just supposed to give into narcissists and make them happy. That’s not how my sister’s boss got fired. She was antagonized until she cracked. And that is exactly how you beat a narcissist.
Is it a dangerous game? Sure. But it’s hard to argue it’s more dangerous than doing nothing.
The only post calling you a racist happened after your post.
Trump ran a racist campaign. He was caught saying racist things all the time–things even the Republicans would admit were racist and horrible.
So, to vote for Trump is a racist act. If you voted for Trump, you committed a racist act. Lying and pretending that means we called you racist will not change this.
Let’s hope there’s no inchoate movement to reclaim the term.
Look, we all do stupid things once in a while, that doesn’t make us stupid. We all do crazy things once in a while, but that doesn’t make us crazy. But say or do enough stupid or crazy things and that means you’re crazy or stupid.
There are those who say we’re all a little bit racist, and you know what, maybe we are. But it does require a bit of a leap to say that all trump supporters, as a group, are racist. Oh, a lot of them are, and a lot more, who should have known better, were silent in the face of this. But there is that third group, who voted for trump this time and Obama the last. So what do you do?
Check them for sudden onset dementia while they’re still covered under the ACA.
What’s funny about the last 8 years is, the one person I knew who openly said racist things in public* started to behave differently. Every objection they voiced about Obama was honestly based in how it affected them directly, and even then they usually admitted that the policy was for the greater good.
When it came to Trump, they were initially a supporter. They happily identified with the racial politics, but couched them in the more convoluted structures of the more eloquent Trump apologists. As the campaign wore on, they wore down, and couldn’t support such an idiot. Even if Trump appealed to his baser instincts, his intellect seemed to win out, and he reportedly stayed home on election day. I didn’t verify this, of course, but he has never lied to me that I know of. He cares what I think of him, and somehow I do the same, but neither of us varnishes our thoughts much when talking to each other.
So, it seems that not even all racists were dumb enough to vote for Trump.
*Seriously. Sometime between 2006 and 2008 I walked out of a meal where they were saying racist things loudly enough for a bi-racial couple seated nearby to hear. They were not shy about their racism.
That much should be obvious.
Right, to you I’m a racist because you can invent a list of things I never said.
Now, can you try a bit of intellectual honesty and point to me, precisely were I:
-Insisted that there was no real racism in the Trump campaign.
-That there was no racism in the Birther movement.
Can you do that? You can’t, because I didn’t say those things.
Heck, I’ll help you out, for the first point what I really said:
“…he (Madmonk28) wants to imply that Trump is a racist because the KKK endorsed his campaign, which is another layer of guilt by association”
I think even the most obtuse person can see (or at least the second most obtuse person) is distinctly different than your… recollection of “Your insistence that there was no real racism in the Trump campaign”
I didn’t say there was no racism, I said that an endorsement by a racist organization on itself doesn’t make a campaign racist, if people would live and act according to that abortion of logical thinking all the KKK has to do in the future is sink the presidential campaign of the party they don’t want in power by endorsing them. Sorry! you are racist now
For the second point what I said was:
“being a Birther doesn’t make one a racist, sure it makes one as thick as two short planks, but a racist? not necessarily”
Do you understand what the “not necessarily” is there for? It means that, while some, perhaps even most Birthers, are racist, that doesn’t mean everyone of them is, some may just hate Obama’s guts and be perfectly fine with black people in general, some may be garden variety conspiracy nutjobs, no racism necessary, some may just play along for political expediency, etc, etc… Is that too nuanced for you to understand? Birther therefore racist is the type of simplistic negative stereotyping that racist do, just so you know.
Do you understand Venn diagrams? A big circle for the Birther mass as a whole, within that circle another one for racists, logically you can say some Birthers are Racists, but you can’t say all Birthers are racists therefore your argument that being a Birther, on itself, proves racism is invalid.
You completely misrepresented everything I said in order to justify your own sense of self-righteousness, and I’m the one with a twisted world view…
So, well no, clearly you just want to call people racist and, paraphrasing Bush’s administration policy, fix the facts around to justify it.
No, he called me a racist before that, which you would have seen if you’d actually read to what I was replying to, I don’t have a big red crayon to use at the moment so this should suffice:
“Own your fear, own your racism and own your president.”
My racism is a figment of your, and Madmonk28’s imagination, which shows an amazing lack of self awareness considering that it came right after I wrote:
“What Madmonk28 did there was prove Octopus correct, loaded terms are used to demonize opponents with callous disregard for what is true or not. I don’t like what someone says? I’ll just called them racist!, because they are Trump supporters (never mind whether they are not) and I think Trump is a racist, so there!, me right you wrong.”
And here again you prove that observation as being correct, you just can’t help yourselves calling other people racists, any excuse would do, and if there’s no excuse just make one up and call the other person a liar.
Really, you are so consumed by hatred at the moment that you can’t even think straight.
The saddest thing here is that I’m on your side, sort of, Trump is an absolute disaster for the USA in particular and the world in general, but your head is so far up your ass that can’t even see it.
The lesson you should have taken after the election is that this sort of beheaviour of yours is what, IMO in large part, led to the final result, you alienated too many people who would have come to your side by being absolutely intractable, self-righteous, divisive idiots.
For the life of me I can’t imagine why so many people have said that they voted for Trump just to piss off the other side… :smack:
By the way, as if needed more clarification, Trump is not my president, I didn’t vote for him, what with not being in the US or being a US citizen; I’m someone unburdened by partisan baggage looking at things from the outside as impartially as possible, which appears to be an unwelcome attitude.
Poor babies! Calling them what they are hurts their fucking feelings! It gets tears of sadness all over their sad little selves. IF THEY ARE THAT SENSITIVE AND PUT UPON THEY SHOULD GROW THE FUCK UP.
And then they have the nerve to call “us” the snowflakes and the sensitive types.
Unfairly maligned> Give me a fucking break.
Whiny and butt-hurt TrumpTards are…whiny and butt-hurt.
Given the low turnout in US elections, I’m not sure that such a group actually exists, at least, in any significant numbers. I think what you’ve got is a demographic that was enthused about Obama in '08, mostly stayed home in '12, and continued to stay home in '16. But in '16, a lot more rednecks came out.
The only ‘we’ here are your fellow narcissists. When any President fails, the nation fails. For you to wish what you do on Trump is you putting your own ideology over the good of the nation. For him to do increasingly erratic things puts the world economy at risk and perhaps risks war. What kind of a person hopes for these things?
WTF kind of idiot logic is that? If the president does things that are stupid and counterproductive, sets a bad example and inspires destructive values, then the nation fails even more, and it’s preferable in that situation that the president be constrained to do as little as possible or enticed to resign. No, no sane person hopes for an erratic president who would put the nation and the world at risk, and that’s why no sane person would vote for one. The question is what to hope for when you’ve got one.
Those who voted for him. Since that’s what he promised.
But when an incompetent and dangerous President remains in office, the nation fails harder.
This is a lesser-of-two-evils situation. All the evidence suggests that Trump is going to continue being dangerously erratic and dictatorial, with highly unpredictable consequences, while he remains in office.
The only realistically probable outcomes are (1) Trump continuing to behave that way unchecked, and (2) Trump being removed from office. Hoping and praying that Trump will magically turn into a responsible, judicious and well-informed Chief Exec does not make that a realistic third outcome.
If Trump is so unstable that he can actually be teased or taunted into recklessly dangerous acts because of the public making fun of him, then he absolutely should be removed from office. Servilely trying to conciliate him and keep him happy in the false hope of being able to prevent his lashing out and inflicting damage is what abusers’ victims do when they’re trapped in fear and hopelessness with no way out. That’s not acceptable for the people of a free country.
What a complete fucking idiot you are. If Trump succeeds in many of the absurd and dangerous things he has proposed it will weaken and damage this country for decades. Hoping for him to fail in these things is for the good of the nation.
I am hoping that Trump is playing the Madman theory - Wikipedia on the world. My point was to positively wish for his failure is to fall into the same sort of irrational evil that they accuse Trump.
