I'm gonna have to pit all you butt-hurt snowflakes

No, the people on the other end of the political spectrum were concerned Obama was gonna take their guns, and send them to FEMA camps, and set up death panels, and declare Sharia law, and institute socialism, and other complete loads of crap like that. And the reasons they were concerned about these things was that they were told to be concerned about them by the fear mongering media branch of the GOP, and of course, it none of it was true.

Whereas, on this end of the political spectrum, we’re worried that Republicans are going to fuck up the economy (like they did last time), and fuck up the things they get control over (like they did last time), ruin people’s lives for money (like they did last time), give rich people even yet more money at the cost of helping people who really need it (like they did last time), and start fucking wars for bullshit reasons (like they did last time). Of course, we’re also worried that the person sitting in the president’s seat is an overgrown child with delusions of competence and no self control, and the fact that a significant chunk of the population thinks this grossly unqualified hypocritical racist sexist lying orange dickmuppet is fit to represent this country.

Well said.

PJ O’Rourke’s endorsement of Clinton–“She’s wrong about nearly everything, but she’s wrong within normal parameters”–is a key idea.

Obama, Clinton, Dole, Romney, McCain, are all politicians within normal parameters. If Jeb Bush had won, I’d be upset, and I’d work to limit the damage he did.

But Trump? He’s way outside of normal parameters. If you want to burn the whole fucker down, he’s your man. But if you want considered policy debates informed by reason and facts, he’s not for you.

Folks who thought Obama was the antichrist were the same unreasoning assholes who got Trump elected. This is not a tu quoque, it’s a they also quoque.

just saying

Months.

Basically, folks were upset with Obama because they thought he was lying about who he is and what he wants to do.

We’re upset with Trump because we think he’s telling the truth about who he is and what he wants to do.

A lot of folks on the other end of the political spectrum thought Obama was literally the antichrist, a gay fascist socialist muslim sleeper agent put here to destroy America and institute himself as a permanent dictator.

Now, do you wanna talk about whether concerns were valid, or whether there was some insane jackass who held those concerns? Because one of my friends says this election doesn’t matter, because the aliens who put microchips in his teeth are coming back next month to end the world as we know it.

I am pretty sure this election doesn’t matter, because this whole universe is a simulation on Nate Silver’s quantum computer.

The run started before the primaries. Out of the near infinite universes simulated, 3 got Trump elected, and the other two are worse.

The run ends when Trump is inaugurated, so we have a little less than 3 and a half hour till this universe simulation ends its run.

I can’t wait.

Uh, that line of thinking is a ticket to cognitive dissonance.

I suspect we are in the real world, and we’re facing a possible thermonuclear exchange tomorrow, because Trump is an imbecile who wants to screw over his Russian creditors in the worst way.

I am not entirely serious, but at the same time, it explains all the celebrity deaths last year. He couldn’t afford the royalties.

We find out in a bit over an hour.

ETA: I was also responding to a conspiracy theory, which I think is actually even more implausible.

There’s a problem with that. Remember “Feed the World”? When they transported all those food crates, corrupt government officials, warlords, and thugs grabbed the stuff for themselves, then sold it. The starving only got a fraction.

The terrorist orgs will think Allah rained his blessings on them and that Western Infidels are suckers. They’ll just swipe all the drops and upgrade their strongholds and hideouts.

Diplomacy (the board game) doesn’t have dice. If that’s what you meant, well…that’s brilliant.

It’s “Russian handlers” and he would never do anything to harm them.

Darn, still here.

No, I’m just saying that your feelings about Trump almost somewhat mirror the Tea party’s feelings about Obama.

Their concerns were that Obama was a secret Kenyan Muslim just like we have butthurt snowflakes concerned about Trump the pedophile manchurian candidate who has committed incest with his daughter.

If the worst that happens is a bunch of shit-for-brains gloating at us, well, good! In six months. they will be too embarrassed to show their faces.

You sure there haven’t been ridiculous conspiracy theories coming from the left about trump?

And most of the concerns you mention are NOT trump specific, they would apply to just about any Republican.

Trump will be more embarrassing than any of the other prospects but I see no reason to believe he will be any worse than other republican.

But maybe I’m wrong. Which republican candidate do you think WOULDN’T adopt the policies you think Trump will adopt?

So what is it that you think Trump might do that Jeb Bush would not (aside from immigration stuff)?

And we have unreasoning assholes on the liberal side who think that Trump is a manchurian candidate. Liberals also quoque

Well, first, Trump is walking breathing lying example of Poe’s law when it comes to conspiracy theories. No matter what you try to claim about him, the next day you find out he’s being peed on by Russian prostitutes or something.

Second, how many of the conspiracy theories were made and popularized by the leadership of the left? Most of the bullshit came out of the right wing’s propaganda branch, and was wholeheartedly repeated over and over by the heads of the GOP. Some idiot on the internet talking about Bush being a lizard person is one thing, the presidential candidate screaming that he’s going to lock Hillary up for her imaginary crimes (and then immediately shutting up about it the instant the election is over) is another.

Yes? And? They hold his leash, let’s see how long they can keep him from pooping on the rug.

You have no idea how true this is.

Trump doesn’t have a clue what he’s doing, his experience in politics is limited to lying over Twitter about Obama’s birth certificate. He’s going to go along with whatever he thinks will get him more power and money. We’ve already seen him backpeddaling on so many things he screamed and yelled about before the election, I have no doubt his principals will prove to be mere hobbies in the face of a few more dollars. He’s a figurehead for the GOP, a distraction for the people while they get down to screwing the American people behind closed doors late at night when they hope no one will notice.

That’s what he wants everyone to think. It’s a sneaky sneak attack.
