Eric Morgan Lewis-Wick
Born: 1:23 p.m. October 9, 2003
Stats: 7 lbs. 14 oz. - 23" tall
Like I said yesterday, it happened very quickly – he was born less than two hours after I posted, and let me tell you that those two hours were very, very exhausting. We went to bed around 2:15 or so, and I’m just now able to be awake and functioning beyond my capacity as milk-provider. I was so shattered that I couldn’t even speak coherently yesterday. My mother arrived and was afraid that I’d had a stroke or something, but my midwives disabused her of that notion, fortunately, as my mother is the type to run outside and flag down a passing ambulance and demand that they come up to transport me to the nearest trauma center.
But enough about my mother!
Eric is fantastic. He’s loud! He has a good, indignant-sounding shriek already, and has used it twice. He’s all legs, long and lean and destined to the tall, like his father. He’s also bald as a cue ball, and has a scrunchy little nose, like his father. That is, his nose is like his father’s, Mr. TeaElle still has a full head of hair. Forgive me for rambling here, I’m still a little knocked out.
Like his older sister’s, his name has a meaning. Eric is the common-name combination of both of his grandfather’s names (Errol and Patrick) neither of whom are still with us, and Morgan was a good friend of Mr. TeaElle’s and mine in college who was killed in a car accident a couple of years ago.
I’m being beckoned for a feeding, so I’ll cut this off here. Thanks for all of your support and your inquiries after us. See you all soon.
Try to take it easy on your Mama!
Start your IRA today! Now you can not say no one ever told you. Oh and the Lions will never win a SuperBowl. Just thought you should be clued in.
Sounds like your mother and mine share the medical paranoia gene… she wanted to rush me to the ER when I got my first period! I can’t describe how insane she is when it came to my kids being born … All I will say is she thinks I’m going to end up like Julia Roberts in Steel Magnolias… she actually said this to me.
I really admire your ability to do a home birth. That has to be an amazing experience. Best wishes to the whole family…
There, Shirley. Ya happy?? Give the woman a few hours, her brain was all ferschtummelled ! I swear, you’d better put your voting block behind this nomination, or there’ll be heck to pay.
Heck, I tell yas !!!
A warm fuzzy wonderful welcome to Eric Morgan. May he spend his years alternately delighting and infuriating his parents, causing many fine noble gray hairs to sprout.
Maybe I’m weird…but though I don’t think it right to assume that everyone is straight, I don’t think it unreasonable to assume that someone married to a person of the opposite gender is straight, nor is it unreasonable to express surprise when the assumption is found to be incorrect.
We love you, TeaElle- no matter HOW you became impregnated.
So?? Is this a good baby? Sleeps well? Waves little fists in an adorable fashion? Eats contentedly? Has charmed the living daylights out of all who have met him??
