Looks like my daughter is as impatient as her mommy…she was due November 3rd(the baby, that is). Instead, she was born 9/15 at 5:46 pm through C Section (I can already hear Bubble Girl telling her “Do you have ANY idea what you’ve put me through?” :D)
It was a rough delivery. Bubble Girl had pre-eclampsia (sp?), which caused swelled ankles (To be expected, right?), headaches (Must be sinuses…), and finally a siezure (HOLY SHIT!). Bubble Girl went to the hospital Friday, where the pre-eclampsia verdict was given. The cure: Baby’s gotta come out, NOW.
Long story short, a C section was performed, and Baby Emily was born Saturday the 15th, at 5:46 pm.
Mom and baby are both doing OK, although mom still has some high blood pressure, and the baby is tiny. No ventelator or heart problems though; she just needs to gain weight (The baby, that is). The little stinker is already trying to diet.
Emily should hopefully be out of the hospital in a week or so. It’ll be nice to have her home, instead of having to visit her.
As long as you don’t name her Cool. Congrats! That’s great news. My brother’s wife went through the same thing, and just about the exact same circumstances (1 1/2 months early). Baby and mother were fine the whole time. I hope you are enjoying your new family. It must be a great feeling.
I am so happy everything is going so well! Yeah, the last few weeks are just used for plumping up, so I can’t blame Emily for wanting to get out. Keep us posted a little better because, uh, waiting a couple weeks to give us THIS update doesn’t really qualify.
Congratulations!! I hope Mom and baby continue to do well. You’re in for a fun time (I love babies)! Send some of that fertility mojo my way, would ya, cause I’m currently trying to get pregnant!
Congratulations, Sealemon! So glad mom and baby are doing OK considering early delivery, preeclampsia and c-section! May blessings be upon your family.
Thank you so much, everyone. I’m still trying to catch up with the events: I thought I’d have another month to wait!
My wife is my new hero. This last weekend she had a siezure, had induced labor, had a c section, then woke up Monday morning with edema. Fluid had gathered in her lungs, and she felt like she was drowning. She’s already recovering from what would have put me in a gibbering drooling fetal position for at least a month.
I just got off the phone with BB at the hospital: emily is nursing better (She gets tired trying to feed, a common occurance with premies), and I could hear Emily crying over the phone.
Dammit, I’ve become a great big baby. when I hear her voice, or see those little eyes, I just melt, and–

Congratulations!! What wonderful news!! My goodness, there must be something in the coding… so many Doper babies!!
Emily, welcome to the world. I wish you all the very best on your journey through life. Bubble Girl, I’m in awe! It sounds like you’ve had a rough few days - I hope the road to recovery is short and easy. Sealemon, all the very best to you and your girls!!
Congratulations! That’s so exciting. I had a cat named Emily–I love that name. Sort of regretted “using it up” on an animal.
It can be so hard having a baby in the NICU. If there’s a support group of NICU parents, I really recommend you go to it.
And help your wife with the pumping support. That gets to be such a drag and her breasts don’t fully get “inspired” without regular nursing from the baby. All she can do is keep at it–and you can offer her all the encouragement possible.
Hang in there, Dad. All mushiness is okay on a baby thread!
