Howdy fellow dopers, just a quick note to say that it looks like I’ll only get to about six (maybe seven) days overdue. Contractions started last night and have been hot and heavy since. I am just trying to talk myself into having some toast (difficult due to the nausea that accompanies every pain).
The pain is worse than I thought it would be (isn’t it always?) but so far I’m managing, just not very gracefully (cursing a blue streak is more like it).
Either my mom (Runadoc) or I will update when we can.
Yahooo! Good luck Poysyn! And if I may be so bold, I suggest you eat anything you can and drink a bunch of water before you go in. Once you’re there, they’re likely to not allow you anything but ice chips and labor is hard work. You’ll be thirsty–like running a marathon thirsty.

Hmmm… I’m having contractions. Should I call up hubby first or the hospital? Oh wait, before I do anything let me make sure everyone on the boards know.

This is like the second Doper to do this, post while having contractions and/or on their way to the hospital to deliver. That’s what I call dedication to the community. Keep us informed.
Amp got to it before I did. It was a treat to see you at KneedipperDope last year - what do you know, I’m going to this year’s NDP convention in Toronto on the weekend… and you’re giving birth Must be kismet!
All the good luck in the world for Poysyn and the new little Dose
Heck, Airman posted before I was seriously in labor, and he (I think) posted while I was in labor and in hospital. And Zappo posted, as well, because he called five minutes after I gave birth.
Definitely keep us posted, and eat whatever you can whenever you can. If you don’t have any meds for labor, the doc may allow clear liquids like Jello and broth – take advantage of this while he’ll let you.

You ain’t seen nuthin’ yet! Good luck! Say hi to the baby!
Amp, when I was getting ready to go to the hospital last time, my husband and I both stopped to update our online journals. I think I also posted to a board, but I don’t remember if it was the SDMB or another one. It’s exciting and you want to tell people!
Yeah I know it is exciting. I missed milliAmp’s birth, I was in basic training at the time and when I finally got the message and through to the hospital he was already screaming his lungs out. So I know what it feels like to have a birth going on and to want everyone to know.
[story] My sister in law just had a baby in December (third) and they didn’t want to admit her when the contractions were 4-5 minutes - they told her to wait until they were closer together! And she goes fast, for their second she was admitted at 10 in the morning, and delivered at 11. Plus they moved last year and are now about 45 miles from their hospital - my brother called me when they were at her moms (so she could watch the other two kids) and I asked him if he knew how to deliver a baby (they still had a fairly long drive to the hosp.) and he answered, “No!” and I could hear the panic in his voice. [/story]
Good luck Poysyn, in the spirit of a true Doper, keep us informed.
