I’m sorry, but I won’t be able to make it. My surgery was less minor than expected and recovery is taking a lot more out of me than anticipated. Hope y’all have fun though!

Close! Years ago (1997 or so), I needed to come up with a yahoo ID. I was a really big fan of the show Homicide: Life on the Street and the book it as based on.
They mentioned in the book that a lot of Baltimore natives pronounced the city’s name like “Bawlmer”. At the same time, I had recently seen the movie The Long Kiss Goodnight with Geena Davis and Samuel L. Jackson. While it was by no means a **good **movie, it was a **fun **movie, and Geena Davis’ character was named Charlie Baltimore. And sure enough, “cbawlmer” was a unique user ID on Yahoo and everywhere else and it was memorable enough to me that it stuck. I’m kind of tired of it now, and I’ve phased it out pretty much everywhere but here. Maybe one of these days I’ll change it, but I don’t know what I’d change it to.
Never been to Baltimore, but it looks like a lovely city, despite all those murders. 
FairyChatMom has safely arrived in our fair city! I spoke with her today around 3:30. She only got a little lost finding her hotel.
She asked me to let people know that she will be wearing a red hat, and will be at Goode Co. between 6 and 6:30 tomorrow night. I’ll be arriving around that same time.
I’m looking forward to meeting everyone new, and renewing old acquaintances. (I’m going to try and remember my camera!)

FairyChatMom is just one of those people that you can tell from their posts that they’re going to be a delight to be around and, as assumed, she didn’t disappoint. I’m honored to have made her acquaintance.

I’m back in Merryland safe and sound, none the worse for a soggy few days in Houston. It was a real pleasure hanging with the HouDopers who were brave enough to sneak past the giant armadillo to share some BBQ with me! 
I still can’t believe none of you had ever noticed that thing before!
And lieu, your daughter is not only adorable, but I was very impressed by her ability to entertain herself around all us boring adults!
All in all, my training class stunk, but the Tuesday gathering made it all worthwhile! I’m very happy to have met you all!
