I'm headed to Houston! Any Dopers wanna take me to dinner??

Lots better than “Turn right where the big oak used to be.” Yeah, because there’s an aura where the tree stood and it’ll guide me to my next turn. I’ve gotten directions like that. Just left me shaking my head…

I’d have to admit that I, too, have never noticed said armadillo. Must not be a keeper.

Well there was an armadillo there in December. I suppose it could have just been a Christmas decoration. I guess the lack of native evergreens could drive some to desperate measures.

Keepin’ this alive…

Thanks, Ringo. As a point of interest, to me anyway, I got my travel orders so it’s all official. I will be arriving at Houston Hobby on Feb 7 early in the afternoon. For the first time in a long time, I’m looking forward to a training trek! Do make sure the weather is pleasant for me. Thanks ever so…

FCM and folks,
Reverend Billy C. Wirtz is playing at the Mucky duck on the 8th @ 8:30 (Rev. Billy and Guiness Beef!).

One week till I hit Houston. Weather permitting…

Keepin’ it goin’ here. For those who might not know, the venue mentioned by unclviny, the Mucky Duck, is only a few blocks away from our target, Goode Co., so a later retreat to that spot is not too hard to imagine.

Also (heh, heh), I live around there (here?).

Another HouDopeFest that it looks like I’ll have to miss out on. pout

And missing a chance to finally meet FairyChatMom! :smack: :frowning: Double Pout

Not to mention not seeing my fellow Dopers over in Houston yet again. Geez… I miss y’all. Now, if you happened to want to head San Antonio way, FCM… I could do that, I’m sure. hint hint Just major time and money constraints on me coming all the way there that week, I’m afraid.

FCM, so you’ll know what to pack, the 7 day forecast for Monday suggests a 30% chance of rain with a low of about 50 and a high of 63. Sorry, we’re in one of Houston’s rainy seasons.

There’s not a lot of room inside Goode Co. what with all the jackalopes, signs, framed pictures and barbed wire samples but should we spill over there’s a large covered patio with picnic tables that’ll suit our needs just fine. See ya’ there.

The weather will be a lovely break from the highs in the 30s/lows in the teens-20s/freezing precip that I’ve had more than enough of lately, thank ever so much. But I’m looking forward to the warmth of the company even more!

purrplebear, I’ll keep SA in mind, but I heard today that our travel budget is shrinking, so I expect future training and stuff will be limited to driving distance from the office. How dare they tie me down like that!!!

As we close in, I’ll push it back towards the top.

Bumpety-bump…

It occurred to me today that I should probably share my cell number with some of you - send me an email if you want to be a point of contact. It’s my username at yahoo.

Oh, darn. That’s too bad, about tying you down like that on the travel. Heartless, I say.Heartless!

And I quite agree, the company will be excellent, if past HouDopeFests are any judge.

Well, I’ve got me a phone number and all my papers are in order. Just a slight change in my plans. After class on Weds, I’m going to turn in my rental car and move to the Holiday Inn Express at Hobby. Should anyone care to meet for dinner that night, it’s gotta be somewhere within walking distance of that hotel.

I must remember to pack FairyChatMoose - her book hasn’t been signed in ages!

But we’re still on for Tuesday, right?

Oh yes - Tuesday’s the night I’m living for! Just mentioning that I have another evening free. I’m subtle that way.

And I don’t think I’ll have access to a computer once I arrive, unless the Holiday Inn has a complimentary machine off the lobby, so if someone will please be the designated reminder?? I’ve exchanged cell numbers with Dolores, so she and I are good to go to Goode!

And as soon as I post this, I’m gonna print out the info and tuck it in with my travel papers…

Tuesday 2/8/05 @ 7:30 (I’ll be early) at the Goode Co. BBQ on Kirby, Rev. Billy starts his show @ 8:30 so I can’t stay too late (I don’t miss Rev. Billy shows!).
