I'm late, I'm late! (a late MMP from Spain)

ok - here’s how - Liza’s Caberet costume is very Dietrich - just needs to be modified slightly, you’ll need the top hat - then, on your bar arm, wrap some rubber tubing and tape a hypodermic (without the sharp needle of course) for the world to see

not FABulous enough
swampy - how about Cpt Jack Sparrow?
me, I’m just gonna get one of those stoopit rainbow wigs - my office doesn;t really get into it and I don’t want to be the only one. I used to go as Flicker Farkle (if you know who that is, you’re old :D) but it took too much explaning, so I told everyone I was Raggedy Ann

Happy Friday! Another boring day at work.
glad to be home, so I can listen to the hockey game on the radio tonight. Maggie will be glad when the Canes are back in town, so there will be less screaming and pounding on things.

Sean, I’ve had “dates” like that. Heck If I say “Hi!”, and she doesn’t Mace me, its a date.

ems, is it “I have a better offer” resigning, or “this sucks, I quit” resigning?

SCL, I know what you mean about sports idiots. The Canes board doesnt have too many, because it got moved to a temp board over the summer(sound familiar?).

It’s not getting her in there that’s as much of a problem as keeping her from throwing up/pooping/peeing while she’s in there.

Home almost at normal time today. Only because I’m prolly going back for a bit this weekend…

I was supposed to brief at 9, but due to circumstances beyond control, it was rescheduled for 10. No big - I got to make a couple of changes. So I did my show - it took way longer than I’d expected - and the bottom line was it could have been presented better. I have no problem with that - I didn’t have much guidance in the first place and this is my first project, so it’s a learning experience. I didn’t cry or nothin’!!

I was back at my desk by 11, and I worked pretty much straight thru till 2:30 when I declared my brain was fried and I left. I talked to my LtCol and told him what my plans are - he’s easy, so he had no issues. And I figure after I decompress, I can start from scratch in organizing my thoughts as to how to present the info in a more logical manner. Then depending on how complex I expect it to be, I’ll either go in on Sunday for a few hours, or just attack it first thing Monday.

No car today - the shim parts didn’t come in. **FCD ** is not happy - he’s gone from almost 50 MPG to something under 25. That doth well and truly suck. They promise it’ll be done Monday. We shall see. Thank goodness for car rental on the insurance!

It’s sunny and gorgeous and cool and quite windy. If I was motivated enough, I’d go outside for a while. But I’m not, so I won’t. So nyah!

swampy, too bad you don’t live closer - I could lend you one of our favorite costumes - the Energizer Bunny! I made a pink bunny suit, and FCD made drumsticks and a cardboard drum (alas, the drum is gone now) and we bought big sunglasses. It’s a great outfit - wish I had a photo if it scanned. Heck, if you’d asked early enough I coulda dug it outta the attic and sent it to you. Maybe next year…

Spats, if you need letters of recommendation, you can always point cute girl over here and introduce her to your imaginary friends (phrase shamelessly stolen from Shirley Ujest). We could tell her all about you. Heck, she could read it herself. (You wanted helpful suggestions, right? )

Sounds like you need to have a serious conversation with your body, Dots. Glad you were at school today. (And sorry about the baseball. Be glad you’re not here where there’s Buckeye Football everywhere. It’s pretty much a religion. I’m unable to take sports seriously, so I fit right in…not exactly.)

Sorry about your Mets, rosie. I don’t watch baseball much at all any more, but I was happy to see the Tigers are in the Series.

Your work story sounds familiar, FCM. Good luck with the presentation re-work.

Glad you’re taking Nikita to the vet, taxi. I was going to say something similar to what MBG said (except I’ve never really had a cat of my own). Let us know how it went.

Hope you continue to feel better, Mama T.

Yay! swampy’s back! Glad you made it in safely, even if you had to spend more time in Etlanner than planned.

I’ve seen non-airport pieces of Etlanner, Nava, so I’m pretty sure it really does exist. (Even flew over it on a pretty day in a really small plane. There appeared to be city.)

Didn’t do what I’d planned all day at work, but got some long-overdue stuff done, which felt good. That means I have to do something over the weekend, but it shouldn’t be too bad.

But first I have to deal with pumpkins. I’ve bathed 5 of them and now I need to paint them. Exciting way to spend an evening, huh?

I’m heading to Panera while the pumpkins dry. I have a coupon for a free pizza thingy.

Back after a while.

GT

I’m back from the woods! We didn’t get to go horseback riding, but we had a good time nonetheless. I met Marc’s mom (at her house,) and later we went to get the Q and then back to their house. We talked a lot, and he played guitar and we all sang and ate and sang… it was lots of fun!

I’m pooped though. I came home and threw together some tacos, and I’m waiting on hubby to come home. Let the weekend commence!

No, he told me this could happen. He said it will act as an organic bandage while scar tissue forms underneath. It doesn’t hurt as much today. I’ve only taken the pain pills twice since last night. If the pain gets worse or the good part of the finger starts looking bad, I’ll call him.
It’s just disappointing to know I’ll have a deformed hand. I know it shouldn’t bother me so much. It’s not like I’m an hand model or something. I just feel such a lose. I’m mourning my damn fingertip! How pathetic is that?
Thanks for all the good wishes. It seems like I never post anything possitive anymore.

Since Swampy will be the OP next week, I’ll make a point of posting something happy. (I better start thinking NOW.)

I hate it when I have to get up abnormally early. 5am is not only abnormal, it ought to be illegal. I have to go feed SIL’s dogs, then meet the group for breakfast before doing the river clean-up gig. And of course since I have to get up early, I am not the least bit sleepy and I’m out of melatonin.

Picu, I wasn’t trying to sound bossy! I’m glad the doctor had already covered that so you’re not worrying. It may not turn out as badly as you fear - I cut the side off of my index finger about 10 years ago and now you have to look closely to tell the finger isn’t normal. I know yours is much worse but we can hope for the best. I do understand how you feel about mourning a body part - when Mr. SCL cut through the tiny piece of skin that was all that was holding the chunk of meat on, I got mad at him for throwing it in the toilet. I felt like it should have had a burial or something!

Off to read in the hopes of getting sleepy.

Game on! I called about my season tickets, seems they were mailed a while ago. :dubious: And delivered in the 11th. :dubious: :dubious: I don’t know who has them, cause I was off that day. They are sending me new ones, Wednesday’s tickets will be at the pick up window. My Aunt Mary send me a link to the Brooks and Dunn video Uncle Mike was an extra in: here. He’s the guy in the funeral scene at 3:31. Have your people call my people.

Speaking of lost body parts, in our family cemetary, there is a grave for a soldier’s leg lost in a grizzly attack. The leg received a full military funeral, while the soldier himself, when he died of old age, was buried in an unmarked pauper’s grave. I believe one of the California historical societies eventually found it and gave him a marker. There was some discussion about reuniting him with his leg, but I don’t believe the historical society knew where it was buried and my family is attached <snerk> to our piece of history. God, we’re weird.

So, picu, give your fingertip full honors if doesn’t make it. Why not? It might make you feel better. Bodily integrity is pretty important to humans.

DB, it will be interesting to see if someone shows up with your tickets!

Then I’m gonna get a five minute major.

OK-that last ring-the “Moses” one? that it truly UGLY.

blech.

picu -sorry about your finger-I would be grieving as well.

spats patience and breath. Which is better? To go out dancing and have a good time for several weeks or to jump the gun and end up with bupkus for the next few weeks?

I didn’t read the whole thread (sorry)…to all who feel bad, get better. To all who feel sad, I’m sorry and cheer up! Consider the alternative. To all who feel mad…go git 'em!
Off to work another fine weekend. It’s so exciting, I can hardly stand it! and then work on Monday and and and…

I love that song. That was the first time I’ve seen the video. Thanks for the link, and your uncle was great!

Minor unhappiness tonight: The Canes lost, and Maggie was grazing in the litter box.

picu, sorry about the finger. :frowning:

Obviously I waited too long! My last post was directed at DB, of course.

Showbiz runs in the family(He and Aunt Mary also do commercials).

Well, I’m up and getting ready to take my daughter to the school so she can take her PSAT.

When I return from dropping her off, I’ll make myself some coffee and relax for a bit. No big plans for the weekend, just hanging out. My Dad may drop by sometime this weekend.

Looks like my daughter is ready to go. I’ll pop in later.

Mornng all. I glad you posted Taters, I thought I broke the MMP.
