Well, dear, that’s because it’s not a real word. But I’m not completely anal, I can accept mushed togethether words or modified words as long as they’re still recognizable.
Possession-less would be the only way to spell it. And correctly, you should probably say “lacking of possessions” but I’ll wait for **Monstre ** or another teacher to correct me.

Possessionless is listed in www.m-w.com. It’s a real word. Hyphenating it would be simply incorrect. “Lacking of possessions” would also be incorrect; “lacking possessions” would be better.
