All of a sudden my internet explorer started behaving like the tortoise from the fabled Tortoise and the hare. Every time a type a sentence the computer takes a few seconds to catch up…So the cursor is way infront of the words when I am typing, and I can see the words I just typed catch up after I’m finished typing them.

Actually it is happening again but only with straightdope. And it’s progressive. Like right now everything is fine, but the last post I wrote took me forever because the text did not catch up to the cursor? Why is that?

What makes you think that cave men were particularly slow? If anything, they led lives more active than the sedentary lifestyle common in the modern world. Those who survived being hunted by a sabertooth tiger would be pretty fast. Maybe not fast enough to outrun the tiger, but fast enough to outrun their human companions.
