I'm poor = I bought a townhouse!

So mundane, so pointless, especially from an only occasionaly poster. But, the stress and fear is coming on now as I am getting close to being a first time homeowner.

Some backstory (for the 2 people reading this). After living with my girlfriend for closing on 6 years now, we got to the point a few months ago that we could no longer put up with the apartment life we live:
The divorced dad who speads his weekdays listening to 70’s rock at an alarming volume and his weekends with the kids playing video game at an even louder volume; the screaming kids; the people who cant park, the random and weird regulars we have namad, Altima Lady, Soccer Guy, Smoking Boy, Cellulite Lady, Ossama, Fanny Pack, The Beard, Harley Chick, etc (not exactly creative, I admit, but still descriptive)

So, and drunken night on the porch (and many sober discussions later)

We sucked it up. We are looking at spending more than I really expected. We have an accepted offer on a nice townhouse type unit, that has a nice private wooded patio and backyard, and I am stressing so much I can’t sleep.

But, some day soon, I can sit (with the lights and AC off, eating ramen, cause I’ll be broke) and enjoy my own place - likely to immediatly begin dreaming of selling the place and buying a nice house on a few acres and a 4 car garage!

But, steps are steps, even if they are small steps!

Congratulations! I think buying your own place is usually worth it. Just to be able to paint the bedroom or replace the kitchen cabinets or put in new carpet whenever you want it… A townhouse is a good starting point–I’d seriously contemplate one, too, as there’s no way we can buy a house in this area, and I do not want to ever rent again.

Enjoy home ownership–and the nice private wooded patio and backyard!

Congratulations. Wishing you luck and joy in your new home.
