Those were two very bad plays after a good game by him. Missing a guy who had 20 yards of space, then a dumbass throw.
Lighting stogies here in Austin. Thanks, Coach Carroll!
I guess this means that Washington is better than Ohio State, too.
Lot of games left. Wouldn’t be the first time that a 1-loss team goes to the BCSNCG. But the Toejams have some serious deficiencies on offense, that I hope they don’t fix for another 3 or 4 weeks.
I just don’t see it this year with Boise state having already played their hard games, And the rep of the SEC and BIG-12 this year, I don’t see a one loss pac-10 team making it.
The only way a one-loss USC makes it in over a one-loss Big-12 or SEC team is if they lose that one game in their title match. Even then it’s close.
Man, that VA Tech- Neb game was a fun one to catch the last 10 mins of.
I always tend to root for the VA teams, but I gotta admit- Tech looked very ragged there, and were basically fighting to survive. But MAN, did they EVER survive- when I see a QB running around in the back and waving his hands trying to tell his man to get over- I just assume the play’s forfeit at that point.
Good Job Techies, you stole one today. And too bad for the Nebraska fans out there who weren’t expecting to get robbed in those last 2 mins…
Roll Tide.
IMO, the team with the best chance to go undefeated during the regular season is Penn St and get to the BCS title game. Already defeated 3 cupcakes non-con opponents.
They got games @ Mich and @ Mich St but they have OSU at home.
Their schedule was tailored made to get to the BCS game.
Man, Texas Tech got jobbed at the end of the first half. Ran a nifty ‘fake knee’ where the QB faked taking a knee, but stopped a good foot off the ground…got back to pass, and the refs blew the whistle and ruled him down. Idiots. I’m not a Texas Tech fan (I’m a passing Buckeye fan…I don’t have a real hardcore rooting interest in college…I’m a Steelers man through and through), but they got screwed.
Wow, lots of empty seats at the Arizona State game tonight. Yes, it is against a no name opponent. Still, a Pac-10 team shouldn’t have thousands of empty seats on a nice night in Phoenix/Tempe.
Apparently (Brent & Herbie came back to this play in the 2nd half) faking taking a knee kills the play, by rule.
Yeah, heard the explanation. At least I wasn’t the only one who didn’t know about the rule (the TT coach and the commentators also being in the dark).
So since 2003, USC is (approx) 26-1 OOC, and (approx) 48-6 in Pac-10 play.
The conclusion I draw from this is that USC is getting stiffer competition in conference, then out of it.
Ergo: the Pac-10 is pretty good.
Forget about Boise State getting to the title game. I don’t care how many 12-0 seasons they have, it is never ever going to happen.
A 1 loss USC team can still make it to the title game. They’ll drop a bit in the next poll but every win could move them up whenever someone loses. USC at 11-1 can get in, UCLA at 11-1 could get in, but no other Pac 10 team would. That’s just the way of the caste system. Don’t assume a 1 loss SEC or Big 12 team gets in over a 1 loss Big Ten or Pac Ten team. It depends on who it is. 1 loss Mississippi vs 1 loss Ohio State, they’ll take the Buckeyes. 1 loss Texas vs 1 loss USC, they probably take Texas. Life ain’t fair, neither is the BCS title game.
I am pleased that the local schools in my area are no longer just basketball schools anymore. The University of Cincinnati and the University of Kentucky now have legitimate college football teams, after so MANY years (decades, even) of football futility.
The Pac-10 had a 19-17 recordagainst non-con opponents last year.
The Pac-10 was 5-0 in bowl games. (You choose the stats you like, and I’ll choose mine.
I readily acknowledge that the SEC is probably the strongest conference. I’m just sick of the “SC and the 9 Dwarfs” crap.
yep- 5-0 record in bowl games was impressive, but the fact that they were 14-17 before the bowl games is the reason why they only got 5 teams into bowl games last season.
Does anyone agree with me that Brent Musburger is a really bad College Football Announcer? I tried to watch the UT/TTU game last night, and I just can’t stand that voice.
I watched the UGA/Ark game instead. It was very entertaining. But full of penalties. In fact, all the games I watched yesterday seemed to be littered with yellow flags.
Does anyone (except Musburger’s wife) disagree with you? He’s terrible!
