I'm REALLY awake - An insomniac MMP

{{{{{{{{Spaz}}}}}}}}}; I’m keeping your family in my thoughts and prayers.

Happy Turkey Day, as appropriates. I made a pumpkin cheesecake last night - it looks pretty good, so I’m hoping that it’ll turn out okay. My daughter is getting stuff started now; I’ma help with chopping some veggies up (what I can see of them, that is! LOL). I am at least caffeinated although that does NOT help my vision.

Seriously, though, kind thoughts for all, enjoy your day.

Healing wishes for your cousin, Spaz.

So sorry about Bernie, FCM.

Happy Thanksgiving, all!

Menu report after dinner as I’m not cooking. We’re bringing a couple of bottles of wine.

I follow Jason Alexander on Twitter. He alternates between very funny, very show-biz-y, and quite serious (in a really intelligent, thoughtful manner, I think). Here’s his Thanksgiving reflectionfrom last night.

They’re broadcasting the Third Coast Radio Festival on my public radio station. They just played this 10-minute piece about an adopted son finding his bio-mom. Awesome piece of broadcasting. One of the best pieces of its type that I’ve ever heard.

Had pancakes for breakfast. Need to go feed fish at Local Best Friend’s after a while.

Not sure what the plans are for today other than finishing attaching the inside panel to my latest headband.

Back after a bit, I’m sure.

I’m up, caffeinated, and about to manclaen the doghouse. I was so tired from working last night, I fell asleep before I opened my beer. I’m going to a friends house tonight for Thanksgiving dinner.

(((SPAZ)))

I’m so sorry. Sending Good thoughts your way to both of you…
My morning was started with the new power struggle between my wife and my cat over… me…?

I woke up with a fluffy tuxedo kitteh between my shins purring contentedly. Then my wife rolled over & threw an arm over my chest. This woke up fluffy kitteh, who gave her a look that said “Oh… its ON, girl…”. Looking away, der kitteh gave a demure stretch, walked away from us and over to the nightstand. Then with a smile that you could only see from the side of her face, she lined up on my wife’s Cadbury chocolate bar & slap-shotted its milk-chocolate goodness under the triple dresser.

Cue much cursing from my wife, who immediately got up to retrieve the gold foiled chocolate bar. Where upon a certain kitteh made her way to my chest, laid down flat, and began to purr while looking at my wife with a half-lidded expression.

I’ve come to the conclusion that those two don’t share well…

But… it is Thanksgiving and I vow to be a Better Count Blucher for as long as it lasts, even if its only for one day.

“New Improved Count Blucher! Now with Less Jerk & More Snerk!”

And some people* think cats are stupid.

*also known as “dog people”.

Happy T-day everyone.

I’ve been up since o’dark thirty. I’ve got the stuffing made and cooling; the sweet potato casserole is all ready to go, except for toppings. I’ll put them after I reheat it. I don’t want to burn the topping (streusely type mix with pecans); and marshmallows for my husband:rolleyes:. The neck and giblets are simmering away; the eggs for deviled aigs have been boiled and are about cool enough to handle and prepare, round one of dishes have been washed, and well there’s other stuff, but I can’t remember it all.

Hugs to you and your cousin’s family Spaz. That’s sad.

I have spent the morning tripping over my Siberian Husky who will not let me out of his sight. Of course, he lies right at my feet in the kitchen in hopes that I’ll drop something.

Well, just a few more minutes to play; then it’s back to kitchen duty.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone.

Good start so far - good breakfast was eaten of chili and eggs, dressing is put together, onions are chopped for the green beans and I am getting ready to fry the bacon for them, potatoes are scalloped and I am warming the cream with some Thyme and Nutmeg for the gratin. All that is left to do is put together the sweet potato pie. Turkey is thawed and washed and mr ems will do the marinade/injection later. Oh and I have done 2 loads of laundry. I believe a Mimosa is in order in a few minutes!

Have a wonderful rest of the day.

**Happy **Thanksgiving! (or Thursday, as the case may be.)

Tisiphone approves of Thanksgiving so far, since everything that falls on the floor is hers. I’ve made the jello salad and cranberry relish and prepped the praline yams and cornbread dressing.

I am also extremely grateful to finally have my health back. Having the energy to do things is amazing! And I don’t need to sleep all the time! And I can concentrate again! Hurray!

{{{SPAZ}}}!

Happy Thanksgiving to all. Our turkey-eatin day is tomorrow when The Kid and the fiance i need to assign a name to are here. They’re at his parent’s downstate today, driving up later today so we can settle in and eat tomorrow.

Meanwhile…FOOTBALL!
PS: I saw Harry Potter yesterday. Go.

Hey, Shadow! Glad to hear things are going so well!

I have to second MBG’s recommendation of Harry Potter. In more words, apparently.

Sorry you’ve had to work so much lately,** doggio**.

Your kitteh is clearly a comedian,** Count**.

Oh…and I completely forgot to wish Rue a happy birthday earlier. Happy Birthday to our founding father!

Only about 1/2 an hour till we go next door for dinner. I’m hungry! (Had a snack earlier, but want to be nice and hungry for my favorite dinner of the year.

Have cleaned some stuff up in my room. Yay!

Back later with food report.

Hugs all!

I’m hurt! I’m hurt! I’m hurt!

I have a Thanksgiving injury - I was using the mandolin to slice the potatos for the Gratin…I have sliced a nice slice of skin off the ring finger on my right hand. mr ems had to help me to clean it and band aid it. :frowning: and he may or may not have been laughing at me as not 5 mins before I did it he was telling me to be careful with the newly sharpened knives.

Oh well…oil is heating up for the turkey which should be going in in the next 10 mins or so. Gratin & dressing is in the oven and Mamaw’s green beans are simmering nicely and the sweet potato pies came out of the oven a little bit ago. I had to much filling for one so I made a second one and mr ems is going to take it to dispatch at work tomorrow where it will get hovered up in about 5 mins.

Mimosas are gooooooood!

back from dinner. it wasn’t about the food, it was about the company. and I met a guy.

Yes, mmmmmms mimosas are good! The pre-deheathenization one this mornin’ was especially good.

Count there you go again! Comin’ in hear and braggin’ about wimmens fightin’ over ya. :stuck_out_tongue:

Howdy Shadow!

Vast quantities have been consumed. Da bear is stuffded and tahred! Hope everybody had a good TDay or a good Thursday as the case may be.

Tomorrow I travel to nawth Jawja to see family. I’ll spend the weekend there and attempt to sneak in a post or two from mom’s or sis’s 'puter.

Now, Ima go lie upon da bed and watch me some teevee and moan and groan from bein’ stufffded some more.

Nitey Nite Y’all!

ETA: Rosie [del]Nosy[/del] Inquirin’ Mumpers want details!

Go rosie!

Sorry about your injury, mmmmmmm.

We’re back from dinner. Nice meal, nice company, interesting conversation. We had: turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, peas, creamed onions, candied sweet potatoes, cranberry sauce, dinner rolls and sticky buns. And pumpkin and apple pies. Yummy.

Now I want to make turkey and stuffing so that I have leftovers. I’m thinking I’ll make a turkey breast in the crockpot over the weekend.

I’m thinking I’ll knit for a while, then crawl into bed because…I have to work tomorrow.

Hugs…

GT

Go Rosie!

Stuffed. And tired. Wow am I full! mr ems is complaining that he ate to much of my good cooking. Piglet that he is

Movie watching for the rest of the evening is now the plan.

well, literally, there was a guy there to whom I had not been previously introduced; so, I met a guy.
He’s newly separated, so I will not push. But he seems nice and was not horrified by my size. so, we’ll see.

This trip has been as, err, interesting as I feared. More details when I get home and have a real sized keyboard to type on.

hee hee hee

Deep fried turkey is very good. I even had thirds. Bedtime, since I have to be up at 0300.

Hey!;):stuck_out_tongue:

Go rosie!

mmmmm, I’m totally certain blood is not a requirement for good gratin. Hope it heals up soon!

Dinner is over, and I’ve got some work to do before tomorrow. I get to go in to work!
