Not a true pitting, just pointless and rambling.
It’s been too dark too long, I guess. And we have no windows in our department. As a result, my staff seems to be getting dumber lately. At least some of them.
Not that I’m any great shakes myself lately, but really! :dubious:
One doc faxes me 45 pages of a medical record without telling me why she did that…
Another orders long-acting morphine because the patient asks for it, disregarding the information in the chart which details their history of drug abuse, diversion, and lack of actual medical problems which merit narcotics…
A nurse duly notes that the patient reports he is allergic to glucose, and puts him on a sugar-free diet…
Another staffer calls a conference about the patient’s hernia. “The patient wants his hernia fixed. In my opinion, he doesn’t have a hernia. The surgeon doesn’t think he has a hernia either. But I thought I’d bring it to committee so I can tell him that the committee decided he didn’t need it fixed. So he won’t blame me”.
Another doc, who can only manage to see about 6 or 7 patients a day, tells me if we don’t get off his case, he’s moving to the private sector, where they’ll treat him with more respect! (He hasn’t worked in the private sector in over 20 years, bwa-ha-ha-ha).
And most amazingly: I review a 10 page Curriculum Vitae mailed in by a job applicant (a physician), which lists not only his elementary school GPA, his failed relationship with a fellow medical student which dragged down his microbiology grade, and his protests against SAVAK in the 1970’s, but also lists one of the reasons he’s not been working lately is that he recently had some blood in his urine and needed cystooscopy, but it turned out just to be a bladder polyp, and excision and cautery has pretty much stopped it and he’s okay to start working and he’s willing to do a urine test to demonstrate he’s all better. On his CV!!!
It’ll get mostly better once we get some more daylight, I think.
I hope.
I still want to stun 'em, sometimes.
A few more months and it should be long enough in the past to tell you about Claudia and her uterus transplant…
