Hey, its great if you work for the working stiffs so to speak. But, IMO, you really can’t wrap yourself in working stiff flag if you charge these working stiffs an arm and a leg hour wise and make a damn good living doing it.

Ah, I have sown the seeds of confusion, I see. When I said “represent,” I meant more “I am one of that group” instead of “my clients are.” You seem to have taken it the other way. But I think that way is correct as well–my clients are trying to make investments that will create value and jobs.
Also, I don’t charge “an arm and a leg.” They pay it, so it’s obviously not too much.
I don’t think it descends to trolling, but it definitely displays ignorance of the real world.
Making the world better one tax dodge (otherwise known as a government handout) at a time and getting well paid for it can certainly be described as working for a living. It’s a far cry from driving a truck, or cashiering at Safeway, or cleaning the toilets in an office building, or any number of tedious, unfulfilling, nasty, or dangerous occupations that actually do make the world a little better.

Frank, can you explain how I don’t make the world a better place? I provide services to people that allow them to make investments that improve this country’s infrastructure and provide jobs to people. They wouldn’t invest if they didn’t understand the tax consequences of their investments or weren’t able to invest in a tax-efficient manner. So you are right that I’m not like a toilet cleaner–I help provide people create jobs for toilet cleaners instead of just, you know, cleaning toilets.
Your clients invest in roads, water and sewer systems, and electric/gas utilities? Frankly, I don’t know how you’re defining “infrastructure”. Perhaps you have a definition that is just as unique as terming yourself a working stiff.
I don’t know enough about your day-to-day work to state whether your work actually produces jobs. All I have to go on is your personality on the SDMB, and judging by that you have demonstrated nothing but contempt for the toilet cleaners of the world, and nothing but contempt for those who are concerned about the lives of the toilet cleaners of the world.
The fact that you have nothing but contempt for people who are not of your class, and the fact that you have nothing but contempt for the people who are concerned about lives of the people who are not of your class is, again, quite frankly, all I need to know that you are not interested in making the world a better place.

You are wrong. I do not have contempt for toilet cleaners. I don’t have contempt for those who are concerned about the lives of toilet cleaners (I actually count myself as one of those people). If you think that, then it is because you have mistinterpreted my posts, plain and simple.

I do have contempt for the looters–those who want to use the government to get stuff for themselves or those they consider part of their group. I also have contempt for politicians who treat poor people as their pets, as people to make handouts to so that they keep pulling the lever for them and their buddies. I also have contempt for people who call me selfish while being a looter or a poverty pimp (or a supporter of same).
Which appears to be every liberal douche on the SDMB, including, of course, me.
There are conservatives (and even libertarians) on the board with whom I could be having a conversation with a completely different tone on the same subjects.

Also, you may want to acquaint yourself with how the pit works. I think people interact with me in the Pit and then interact with other conservatives in GD or elsewhere and then get on my ass for having a “tone.” We’re in the Pit. Of course I have a tone. This is the place to bring the tone.

Just a thoughtlet, but when damn near everyone ‘misinterprets’ your posts in the same way, it might have something to do with your posts.
I R conflicted. On the one hand, I think that the tiny minority of assholes who turn up to every protest with what appears to be the sole aim of breaking stuff and assaulting the police deserve a good thumping (although sadly the police seem to thump fairly indiscriminately at these things). On the other hand, I’m not joining Rand to do the thumping myself - that’s the “dousing a fire with gasoline” approach. Best to snipe at them from the comfort of the Internet.
And whoever it was who implied Rand was a racist earlier - while he and I disagree on pretty much everything, I don’t recall him playing that particular card (the OP White/Black Bloc implications notwithstanding).
Curiously, I also don’t think he’s trying to be racist - he certainly claims he isn’t. And, having narrowly avoided being in an anarchist action last winter, I can see his perspective.
He accused me of calling him a racist when I gave him a hard time about experimental design. So I guess he inferred that I had implied that he was a racist. However, I think he “misinterpreted my posts, plain and simple”.
