I'm Too Old For This 5h1t - a Venting MMP

{{phouka and kopek}}

phouka I was really hoping that by the time I got off my lazy butt to see how everyone was doing, you’d be reporting better stuff about your dad. I really hope this forces the issue with your mom and that your dad starts getting the help he needs.
Kopek I am so so so so sorry. :frowning:

Morning all,

Weekend was good. Mr. Jynx built my second boxed planter thing, which I subsequently filled with herbs and vegtables. The waiting for things to grow is killing me already though.

Mr. Jynx also mowed the jungle swamp a.k.a our lawn for the first time this season. WOW the difference is amazing. We are having an invasion of little purple flowery weedy things. I dont know what they are. They are pretty but EVERYWHERE. They took over 3/4ths of the lawn.

Its supposed to be like 80 degrees at somepoint this week  :D.

/on soapbox/
My father is the person who signed off the FDA’s authorization of it’s use. He is a PhD in chemistry. I HIGHLY doubt he would let me eat/drink the stuff if he didn’t think it was safe.
/off soapbox/

Now I’m up for real but I feel blurfy.

I’ve got things to do and people to call and all that other good crap.
All the stuff I put off over the weekend needs to be done.

I need to open the windows and pullout my shorts and t-shirts!

I need to decide if I am going to call the SO and try to work it out or just call it quits. I haven’t talked to him since Friday, except to tell him off on Saturday.

I checked the weather. Apparently only one day in the next 10 is supposed to be under 50°! WooHoo!!

I wore a skirt and sandals to work yesterday because I decided the best way to make spring come is to force it. My thighs and toes were freezing all day but I did manage to sell 3 pairs of the sandals I was wearing.

Phase I of laundry is done. Three loads are hanging on the lines drying. Towels are in the dryer because I ran out of space on the lines. Those umbrella-clothesline thingies just don’t hold enough. I’ve got to light a fire under **FCD **so we can get my clothesline deck built.

I’m eating the last of the N.O.T. soup for lunch. It’s not particularly satisfying, but it was easy to warm up, so there’s that. Not sure what supper will be - I should decide so I can get whatever it is out and thawing. Maybe poke chops??

Once lunch is done, I’m going to attack the front yard for an hour or so. I don’t want to overdo it and hurt myself, but I think what I want to do won’t take too long or too much effort. I’m going to lop off some little bitty trees and shrubs so we’ve got a clean front hill, I’m thinking I want a row of azaleas along the crest. I’ve got about 8 to transplant…

What I need is a muscular young laborer to do my bidding… with the landscape, so get your dirty minds back on track. :stuck_out_tongue:

{{{Ruble}}} so sorry for your losses.

Also, don’t go steady and be sure to offer several choices of things to do when calling to ask for a date. Additionally, do not call asking for a date at the last minute. I think the last one has to do with if you are the type who will accept a date at the last minute you are the type that will park in cars with boys at night.

La dee da dee da I’m in class.

Guess who’s had too much caffeine today.

If you are available at the last minute it means nobody else has asked you out. Quality women have full dance cards so to speak.
Even if you are available you have to pretend you are not, and besides any man who would be so disrespectful as to call at the last minute is a man who is not worthy of your time.
One never accepts a date for Saturday after Wednesday.

At least when there were rules everybody knew the rules and were playing by the same rules.
Now it’s a free for all.

((roo & kopek))

I had a fairly successful weekend. I got a fair amount of writing done Saturday. Sunday my mom came over, so I was cleaning like a madwoman before she got there, then got the ironing that had been sitting for a month done.

I need to type up the stuff I’ve written so far this month. I’ve got someone to beta-read the one.

Work is buzzing right now. There’s some bigwig coming in about fifteen minutes and the big boss wants to make a good impression. They even bought flowers for my desk, which I think is kinda silly.

I am not a Spider Plant!!!

I am irking from home today. I is the [del]consume, consumer[/del] consumate perfessional. I was on a conf call & stated I needed to put them on mute (really I just put the phone down) to attend another issue - I wanted to put clothes in the washer but I didn’t want them to hear the water running into the washer.

I had half of a ham and cheese sandwich for lunch, too much mayo on it.

Yesterday I went over my friends for lunch and she suggested we get cold cuts at the local store.
Never go shopping when you are hungry.
She spent $40, I spent $30.
For lunch we had fried chicken, western fries, a cold cut for her and ham and cheese for me, two pounds of steamed shrimp, apple fritters and lemon pastries.
I still have 2 large chicken breasts, half of the ham and cheese sandwich and a pound of shrimp left as well as the kid has blueberry muffins and we have 4 very soft fresh baked kaiser rolls for hamburgers.

I know she has @pound of shrimp, half a cold cut, a lemon pastry and over half a bucket of chicken left.

Fuss kicked up. Refund acquired. No angry shouting at customer service drones required.

Test results back from the vampires from last week- they can’t find anything wrong, which is half yay, half annoying, yay because that probably would have picked up anything really serious, but annoying because I’m still getting random stomach pains, and I’m no closer to knowing why.

It’s quite interesting to notice how many of my wishy-washy liberal hippy friends have suddenly got terribly bloodthirsty today, over the death of someone who was out of power before most of them were out of primary school…

Yay for the refund Nuts! Quiet indignity can get ya a lot of places.

Sari, Spaz, you and I should write a book on how to be socially acceptable. We’d make bazillions!!! Ok, I’d mostly glean things from all those “ejookayshunul” films I’ve gotten addicted to watchin’ but, well, sometimes the old lessons need to be dusted off and taught again I say.

N.O.L. of leftover poke tenderloin and sallit has been consumed. Rah.

Yeah, I’m not thrilled with the glee over an old woman’s death, but then, I was never injured by any of her policies.

So, my boss is cool with me taking off a couple hours early once a week so I can see a counselor. That’s good. Last thing I need is a recurrence of depression in the middle of all this.

You know, it’s amazing in a horrible sort of way that everyone I talk to about my dad is either taking care of someone with dementia or they’re close to someone taking care of another person with dementia. There was an article at the end of last week stating that Alzheimer’s is now the most expensive disease to treat, which doesn’t surprise me at all. I just wish there were some specific help for this. It’s overwhelming, and I’m just on the periphery.

Good luck with the house/apartment, anyrose.

All this talk of venting makes me think of preventing. Is preventing when you fart before you eat the beans?

My oldest son and his kids came over Friday. It was good to see them. They and the youngest son & his girlfriend & some friends went to Six Flags on Saturday, so the house was nice and quiet. I’d like to say I got a lot done while they were gone, but I got a little done and rested. Sunday was the biweekly D&D game in Turlock. Quite a drive, but good people.

This is about as social as I ever get. I tell people I was raised by hermits.

Done in the yard for the day. Two lessons learned:
[ul]
[li]Get started earlier when it’s cooler out.[/li][li]Don’t try to work immediately after eating lunch - combined with the heat, it’s just uncomfortable! ugh.[/li][/ul]

But I did manage to clear 4 lawn cartsful of debris, yonking up roots and lopping down teensy trees that I didn’t want. My 8 azaleas won’t be nearly enough to go across the front, but between the forsythia and the little holly tree, I’ve got space for at least half a dozen and they’ll be visible from the house when they grow a bit taller. So yay! I think I’ll transplant them on Thurs because it’ll be overcast most of the day, then we get rain on Firday.

As is usual when I work in the yard, I drew blood - two cuts on my left arm just above the wrist. I’m sure it happened when I was scooping up piles of branches and roots and leaves. I did wear gloves, so my hands were spared.

I’ve got a small hunk of poke tenderloin thawing. I’ll make cornbread and maybe some sugar snap peas. Meanwhile, I need to rest and rehydrate a bit. It’s been almost a year since I’ve done serious yard work and it kicked my butt! Getting old ain’t for the feeble… :stuck_out_tongue:

Annette Funny Jello???

Oh, Maggie.

MOOOOOOM I was stiff and sore all over for three days last week after the marathon yahd session at da cave. By contrast, after helpin’ JDD with his 'rents yahds this weekend, I am a little achy but not stiff and sore all over. It’s that very first time that gets ya!

Spidey the idea of any of Nuts friends had not been conceived by their parents by the time Annette Funny Jell-O was not on the scene anymore.

well damn

the mortgage company won’t give out mortgages as low as I want to go

sucks

but he gave me the name of another mortgage person
so hopefully he can work with me

**sari **- is there a reason you don’t want to go with a higher mortgage? That’ll give you more cash on hand to make repairs/handle emergencies/buy me presents…

Mortgages are cheap money - not only low rates but the interest write-off. If you need to replace your vehicle in the near future, you’d do better buying it for cash rather than taking out a loan. Or if you need to get appliances for the new place. Just some ideas to consider. Not that I’m any kind of financial whiz.

**FCD **is on his way home. I need to decide how I’m going to cook the poke. Off to the kitchen with me!
