Okay, this is pathetic, but I can tell you all these people’s names. I didn’t watch AI1, but can see why it’s a sensation. I’m now completely addicted.
–Frenchie Davis. I agree with Jadis that it was really impressive how she could let her partner take the spotlight. She’ll win. Even if she doesn’t, I bet she gets a deal, because she has true star power–sort of reminds me of Tina Turner in that way. She’s a diva in the good sense.
–Kimberley Locke. (yes spelled with an extra e) She was Frenchie’s partner. Love her. Great voice. Great presence. She needs a bit of style help, though.
–Clay Aiken. The Rick Astley guy. Who could believe that voice could come out of that little body? The folks over at TWoP are referring to him as Opie Weasley, which I think is perfect. He has the geek chic thing downpat.
–Rickey “Hercules” Smith. He’s my absolute favorite. I felt bad for him at the initial audition because they were ranking on his looks. So, he’s a little homely. But what a voice! When he sang “The Way You Make Me Feel,” I understood for the first time why people are Michael Jackson fans. It’s a great song when someone else sings it! I love this guy. I hope he and Frenchie make it to the top 2. She’ll win because of pure diva-tude, but he’ll get a deal. He may not have pop-idol looks, but people will buy his records because he is great to listen to.
–Julia Demato. The Hairdresser. Eh.
–Kimberly Caldwell. The bitchy blonde from Julie’s group. She’s being set up as the queen beeyotch, and perhaps she is. But I just love her voice. She has the right look, and I think she’ll make the top 10.
–Corey Clark. The Guarini lookalike. I think they let him into the top 32 because Simon needs a whipping boy. Or because of the Guarini thing. In other words, he’s there to make the show more interesting. I agree his singing wasn’t good.
–Ruben Studdard. The heavyset guy with the great voice. He hasn’t really wowed me, but I’ll be pulling for him because he’s fat. Really.
–Patrick Lake. The rock dude. I love this guy. He can’t win it all, being a rock dude and all, but I think he’ll get a lot of good exposure. Plus, he seems nice. I’m guessing that a lot of the audience are actually rock fans rather than pop fans, so he might do better than expected.
