American Idol Feb. 22

It’s a two-hour show tonight and maybe one hour tomorrow–I haven’t checked. This is when they pick the top 24.

What do you think about the judging crew? I find it so funny when Steven Tyler hears someone he likes, you see his eyes close and do this weird face. I will say though that the whole American Idol hype has died down significantly over the past years. It used to be all the rave but now it seems like there are too many shows like it.

So that guy who asked to start his performance over, did they dismiss him on the spot?

I like the judges. I just don’t know if there’s anyone who is really going to blow me away among the remaining singers.

They showed him doing the long walk to the chair in front of the judges (but not actually sitting down or talking), so I assume not.

I’m going to keep an eye on Jessica Sanchez. I think she’s got something going on.

This is the first time since I started watching in Season 2 that I’m not bothering. Am I missing anything worthwhile?

Well, not really. Since they have toned down the awful auditions, it’s not really interesting until they start with the real singers really singing.

She pulled the sob story card about her mom losing her job because of her music career way too soon. Turned me right off.

Were the last group of selections on last night? Who else made it?

Apparently they’re going to have a top 13 for the guys. One of Cowboy, MJ clone, big deep-voiced black guy, or someone else I can’t remember is coming back. We’ll find out Tuesday, but I’m checking spoiler sites for info.

Is that the guy with the short dreds?

Did Phillip Phillips make it through?

Yes.

I don’t think I pay any attention to that any longer, since they all have some lame sob story. If there isn’t any sob story, they’ll start playing up how much they’re missing their kids or something.

Again, thank you DVR! I don’t think I could have sat through this live - they dragged out every single yes/no to the point of ridiculousness. And the flashbacks and sob stories seem to be getting longer. With DVR, we watched both episodes in about 18 minutes.

Yes. He is remarkably moist and sebaceous.

I’ll bet they bring back the arrogant cowboy as a villain.

J-Lo has achieved an OMFG level of sexy.

When they were in the midst of doing their usual lame-ass fakeout giving Baylee the news, you could see her not even buying it for a second. She must have watched this show before.

I kinda liked vocal stylings of Joshua Ledet (Stevie Wonder schtick), Adam Brock (baby daddy), Reed Grimm (Taylor Hicks with rosacea). Steve Tyler must have liked when Reed played drums. IIRC that was Steve’s job in Aerosmith before he became the lead singer.

I have a feeling the arrogant cowboy will be coming back, because he’s the one I most want to be gone.

Only part had me going WTF was when they didn’t put Heather Grey through, but that annoying little Reba clone is in. That was atrocious.

Baylee’s been on the show before. Just didn’t get to the voting rounds.

I’m glad Little Meatloaf got in.

I’m glad Adam got in, especially since he’s from Little Washington. (Washington, PA.) I would love to see him get to top 3; I’d probably know every place he’d go on the home visit.

That really rubbed me the wrong way. [not an exact quote], “We need this because my mom put my singing above her job.” What your mom needs is to get her priorities straight.
