I'm very pleased with American Idol

Really, I think they did a damned good job of picking the last 32. All the people I was cheering for made it.

  • Frenchie and the other big girl who have the voices of Goddesses - Frenchie could win it all, methinks
  • Hercules High Voice Man
  • The punky chick
  • The blonde chick who looks like Mrs. RickJay’s stepsister
  • The Marine
  • The rock and roll dude
  • At least a dozen other talented kids I liked

They didn’t just pick a bunch of Britneys. There’s a nice spread of looks and a lot of talent. Very well done.

I’m glad they picked Julie DeMato the hairdresser.

But I’m truly ashamed of the reason(s) why I’m glad.

Happy

I’m a fan of Julie, the hairdresser who got in a fight with her group, she seems to have a nice voice. My money is still on her. Her timing seemed to be slightly off during her solo, but I think having music to back her up will most definately help that.

Although the Marine is on key and seems to have a very nice voice, there is something about it that I picked out during his solo which will prevent him from winning. I can’t really explain what it is but there’s something off about it. Deserved to be picked for the top 32 though.

Yeah, I agree they did a pretty good job.

I like Frenchie and the law student because they indeed sing like the Muses themselves, and the Marine because I’d like to nail him (I wish the hot blonde guy from Virginia had practiced instead of partying-he was beautiful!)

I wasn’t sure – was the one guy who didn’t go out on the town with the other two asshats get picked? I thought his part was nice, and it’d be a shame if he got kicked off just because he was randomly paired with a couple of morons.

And I was cheering Simon when he told the party boys off, too. God I hate people that do things half-ass.

Didn’t one of the party boys get through? The one with the Guarini hair? I think he did, which really surprised me because I didn’t think he sounded very good at all. I didn’t think his first audition was worthy either.

Other than that, I thought the picks were pretty good.

Did the girl from Toledo make it or was she cut? I couldn’t tell. I can’t remember what she sang, but she was a pretty small girl with auburn hair.

He was picked in the first group, I believe. Mrs. RickJay believes he will win the whole shootin’ match, and she may be right. He can sing like a crazy bastard and he’s handsome.

I find it utterly stunning anyone would risk such a golden opportunity. I mean, when you’re 1 out of the last 80, you’re getting to the point where you really do have a statistically legitimate shot at stardom. Just making it to the final 10 means you’re in the money, and there’s not that many people you have to beat. But nooooo, let’s go out and get wasted!

On the other hand, only 3 people out of 80 went nuts. That’s fairly good.

I couldn’t believe how entertaining the show was. I laughed, I cried, I yelled at the tv - “No, you stupid asses, you don’t go out drinking during your one big break!!!” I think rock and roll guy has a great voice and deserves a break, but he’s a rock and roll singer, not a pop star, so he won’t make the cut. Mr. Marine shouldn’t make the cut either, because while he has a great voice and stage presence, he’s a country singer. He will do very well for himself once he switches to country music. I’m cheering for Julie the hairdresser, but I think her catfighting will do her in in the end (I hope the blonde bitch that she was partnered with will wash out soon). I’m surprised the Justin Guarini look-alike made it through - I would have kicked him out with the rest of the party boys just on principle.

Yeah, wtf with him getting picked? And Go Frenchie!!!

I don,t know how I noticed it, but it just disgusted me. During a quick flash of celebrating contestants, i saw an ear, it was obviously badly damaged by too many heavy, giant earrings. The peircing (hole?) was stretched out and the surrounding skin had healed into a much darker color than the rest of her ear. I usually never notice such things, but this has scarred me somehow.

I think that punkish girl with the red hair is so cute. I felt so bad for that room full of singers when they went in and said they didnt get chosen and some started to cry. But yah why did that guy in the blue shirt get to go through, I guess his bad attitude off the stage is not really important. But when the public is voting I dont think he’ll try to get into a fight with another contestant. This is the first time I’m watching AI and I think Simon is great and it is an addictive show. My sisters and I rushed home from a restaurant to watch it.

Well I somewhat have to eat crow here because Frenchie and the big dude(Reggie?, or whatever the guy in the first guy group’s name was) ) made it past the judges. I didn’t believe they would make it this far. They have they best voices, and performing presences of anyone available(although the hair dresser is close). But I still don’t believe that the crappy public whose opinon that the ultimate winner is based on will go for fat people, but hell, if they win it will start to reverse my cynical opinion about society.

I’m excited to see the Fox people give Frenchie a make-over. Sure, she’s a big girl, but they can work magic in Hollywood.

Count me in among the folks unhappy that they didn’t kick off all the partygoers. Ick.

For one thing, the Guarini-haired guy, IMO, shouldn’t have even made it to Hollywood. Everyone LOOOOOVED him, but I was sitting there thinking it sounded like screeching to me. But oh well. There were some people that got through that I couldn’t believe made it. However, for the most part, I’m happy with the judges’ choices. At least they didn’t kick anyone off just because they didn’t “look the part” like they did last year. Frenchy and Wendy (her partner in the group singing) are AWESOME, just absolutely unbelievable. And they should go by voice alone. Image shouldn’t be that important, but unfortunately in today’s society it is. Maybe we’ll see a trend reversal. ANYWAY, I love getting my AI fix twice a week, and I’m mostly happy with the final 32.

HERCULES HERCULES HERCULES!!!

I completely agree about the Frenchie and the big guy with the R name (I forget, too, even thought I must have said it 100 times last night). They are so good! I wish I was an evil genius so I could vote for them a million times a night. I want them BOTH to win!

I love the Hercules guy! He makes me laugh and he’s got such a great attitude!

When Frenchie and the other girl did their duet, I got chills because they were so incredibly good!

I also am routing for the Clay Aiken guy. He’s the one that doesn’t “look” like he should be able to sing, but he has an awesome voice.

She made it. I didn’t see the show, but she was on the local news last night talking about making the cut and getting ready for the next round.

I don’t understand how the Guarini haired guy got through either. He was awful. I wished they at least showed his solo performance and was surprised they didn’t.

I watched only a couple of episodes last year and never really got into it but this year I’m totally addicted. I think the judges were correct in saying that the bar had been raised in this competition. There’s quite a few extremely talented singers in this bunch.

I’d bet money on Frenchie. She sang the hell out of that song! She’s defintely got that Aretha Franklin vibe going on. There’s only a few that could possibly give her a run for the money–Reggie, the Hercules guy, the Marine, the hairdresser Julie, and the girl that Frenchie sang a duet with.

I’m so hooked on American Idol that I barely noticed that 24 hasn’t been on for the last 2 weeks.

I agree. He’s very sweet, but he does look a bit older…he kinda looks like Sammy Sosa to me.

Oh my gosh. I wanted to watch it over and over. It was a great song for them, too. I wonder who their partners were that didn’t want to sing with their “big voices”? (I missed the first 20 minutes, dammit)

Rick Astley! He’s gotta pick a Rick Astley song to sing!
