Important Bacon Salt Announcement

Attention all Michigan Dopers, Bacon Salt will soon be arriving in the 28th St Meijer in Grand Rapids, MI. If it sells quickly enough the entire chain will be picking up the product! That is 181 store locations throughout the mid-west!

We must all do our part as dutiful lovers of bacon. When I can confirm that the shipment has arrived and is on the shelf I will post here (it should be soon) and then I will be heading up to Grand Rapids to buy enough for myself and any bacon lovers on my Christmas list. The more people that can do this the better chance we have of getting Bacon Salt to become a staple of every mid-western home (and the better chance I have of being able to buy Bacon Salt within 3 minutes of my apartment).

I suppose that I should point out here that credit is due to Captain_C for pestering a mutual friend of ours that works in the Meijer purchasing division to get them to pick Bacon Salt up.

Alright, what´s all this about bacon salt I´ve been reading about here for weeks?

It’s salt. That tastes like bacon. That’s really about it.
Oh, also: It’s AWESOME.

I don’t exactly understand the fascination either, but I’ll advise you to get out of the way of the train.

The word “important” in the thread title is redundant.

Nice Catch.

Everyone is still getting Bacon Bacon Bacon Salt for Xmas. Now it will be without shipping and handling charges.

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

I love this Board.

Awesome!

Bit far for me, S&H will be under what gas money to Grand Rapids would be, but I look forward to my local Meijer getting with the program.

Bacon bacon bacon.

Hm. Will the bacony goodness be coming to me? I was going to go out and get bacony goodness, but if the bacon train whisks me up and takes me on a fun, tasty, mystical ride…

Well, I just drove 650 miles each way to get some…I suppose there was that pesky visiting family in there too, but finding they were not out of Bacon Salt at City Fish was a wonderful moment! I have a pic of it there, but the camera is downstairs and I’m lazy.

“Almost nobody carries this stuff,” the guy who got it down (it was waaaaay up high) told me. And I gather it sells quite well. So now I have two containers for my very own self and I was virtuous and got one for my bacon-loving aunt here. I hope she likes it!

Mmm…bacon. Perhaps I should fix some eggs in a bit, bacony-flavored eggs…mmm, bacon!

Maybe I should order some and see what the fuss is all about?

Do it, you won’t regret it!

Maybe we should all send emails to our local Meijers as a starting point for our plan of global saturation. Hell, if I can find them easily enough, I’ll do Giant Eagle and Kroger too.

Hmm. I could only find an online request method for Giant Eagle.

I just sent an e-mail to Giant Foods. Other people in Pennsylvania and Maryland should do the same.

Well I finally broke down and bought some from their website.

With the CDN exchange rate, it cost me less (about .03 less) than the USD amount. It was like I had to do it.

I don’t know the method of shipping - hopefully I don’t get nailed with UPS fees if that’s how it ships.

I’ve never ordered condiments on-line before. I’m already going through recipes that might have the potential to work well with bacon salt. mmmmmmm bacon

Any of the first group of buyers made a second round of purchases yet?

How much money has the SDMB made for Bacon Salt Inc? Seems we need a cut off the top.

This seems like an out West sort of thing. I’ve e-mailed Publix, asking them to carry it, but until then I guess I will just have to order it on line.

A question…Ivylad is not a fan of bacon. Will he like this, or do I get it all to myself?

My sister is a bacon-hater (yes, I know, but she’s still useful alive) and she’s been eating Bacon Salt recipes without complaint. She might be upset when I tell her there’s Bacon Salt in 'em…

Great idea! Consider it done!
