Another Bacon Salt Thread. Or I might be in a commercial.

Today while visiting the Western Washington Fair in Puyallup, my wife and I came upon a booth for Bacon Salt. When asked if I wanted to sample some, I told them I already had a bottle of each and use it on a regular basis. They were surprised by my response and asked where I had heard about Bacon Salt. When I told them I learned about it from the Straight Dope, the guy told me he had heard of us dopers and that they sold a lot of their product because of us. They brought out a video camera and asked me how I discovered Bacon Salt, if I would buy it if it was in grocery stores and if I would drive to a store that I usually did not shop just to buy Bacon Salt. I was told that my testimonial might be used in a commercial in the near future. I scored a free bottle of regular Bacon Salt for my trouble. Before I left their booth, I asked how many others had heard of Bacon Salt and was told I was the second in the 9 days the fair had run. If you see a Bacon Salt commercial in the future, I’m the studly looking guy in the John Deere hat.

That is so cool!

Wow. Way cool.

Oh, and: bacon, bacon, bacon!

Cool!

I was coming in here to dig up the old thread but I may as well post this here. I have hooked one other person on my live journal friends list on Bacon Salt. When she posted about it a couple other people seemed interested so I hope to reach more as it snowballs.

Also, I went to Dragon*Con and met the web comic artist whom I work for (admin on his message board) and gave him the Bacon Salt trio. He seemed dubious at first but I just got an email about how much he loves it and puts it on everything. He said his baby daughter isn’t quite used to the new flavor of her formula yet. I’m hoping he’ll find a way to work it into the comic.

OMG! I’m going to be right near Seattle for a few days at the beginning of the month. I’m going to have to go into the city to get me some Bacon Salt! Though how I explain that errand to Grandma, I don’t know…

Sig line.

Easy: You’ve never seen the Pike Place Fish Market, and you want to get something special for dinner.

She doesn’t have to know it’s Bacon Salt.

But I have seen the market at some point, I know. Oh well. I can get us some lovely fish for dinner!

Bacon, bacon, bacon!

Grandmas don’t know it’s not bacon salt.

I’m late to the bandwagon. I think I need to get me some of this Bacon Salt…

I think you do, too. I didn’t know how much I wanted savoury foods to taste like bacon until I got some (and they ship to Canada for the same price as to the U.S.!!! You probably don’t know how big a deal that is, but it’s A BIG DEAL!!! ) I’m seriously considering taking my shaker with me to restaurants now.

I think the bacon salt guys should be the official corporate sponsors of the Straight Dope. After those guys that just bought us, of course.

I’ve taken my bacon salt trio to more restaurants than you can imagine LOUNE. Give me a few more months and I’ll have them carrying it so you won’t have to!

My plan is to bring some back and try to convince a local grocery chain to start carrying it! They’ve got all of three stores, so it’s not like they’d have to buy tons and tons of it. Unless it’s a hit, of course. And in this area I can’t see non-fat-tastes-like-bacon not going over well!

Oh dear. featherlou has bacon salt… in Calgary? There is bacon salt in my city?!

Baffle heads off to organize the Calgary bacon salt dope fest…

Wow, how very cool racer!

palebunny, be sure to wave at me when you’re up this way next month. I’m actually about four or five miles from the Western Washington Fair Grounds. So, as you head up north up I-5, throw a wave eastbound down Hwy 512.

I’ve explained its awesomeness to others as well. I am slowly coming around…

Add me to the list of Dopers that just ordered their first 3-pack.

Maybe the bacon salt people of this board can answer this. Does it taste like bacon from America, Canada, or England. None of us have the same kind of cut. Australia never was in that thread, so I won’t be surprised if their’s is unique too.

It tastes like American bacon. Then again, I’ve never had English Bacon and the only thing I know as Canadian Bacon is that ham-like thing on my Egg McMuffin.

Just a reminder for everyone. As of Sept. 14th the recipe contest is going on for two more weeks.

I guess they want more competition, since I have won it hands down already. Bring it, suckers!
