I’m so sorry. I don’t believe I’ve ever interacted with Norine, but we frequented the same threads and she always seemed like such a nice and genuine person. My condolences to her family.
I was looking through some of her old posts and it seems like norinew was always there with a kind word whenever someone else was going through a hard time. She once mentioned getting letters from the Chordoma Foundation, and I presume that means she made a donation to them after reading about what my brother went through.
Holy cats. This is just awful, so awful.

So very very sad - Norine was high on the list of Dopers I hoped to meet. She always came across as such a genuinely nice person. We will be that much poorer for losing her.

I haven’t been around here long enough to have known norinew as well as many, but I liked her as well. These comments about Norine are odd reading for me, because as I told her on what looks to have been her last day here on the board, that is also my daughter’s name. norinew said she had “never encountered another with my spelling. Cool.”
It means “woman of honor” or “woman of light.”
I’m so sorry to see this. norinew was one of my favourite posters and a regular in the Christmas cards for Doper kids. My deepest sympathies to all of her family and friends.

I’m one of norinew’s many fans on the board - I’ve always thought she was the kindest person.

I know she was a member of the Baha’i faith, and I found this quotation by Baha’u’llah:
“The world beyond is as different from this world as this world is different from that of the child while still in the womb of its mother. When the soul attaineth the Presence of God, it will assume the form that best befitteth its immortality and is worthy of its celestial habitation.”
Norine’s soul was already so beautiful in Life, I can’t imagine how more worthy she could be of heaven then as exactly as she was.

Although we only ever really engaged in food threads, I loved reading Norine’s posts about her family and kids. She always had the best advice and/or a kind word for someone who needed it. She was a true class act!
