Improper music at improper times.

Our principal called for our high school students to be dismissed to the auditorium for a program one morning. He had the radio on in the background. It was playing “Send in the Clowns.”

Would Bob Geldof performing “The Great Song of Indifference” at Live8 have counted?

Nirvana once played Rape Me at an event like that, maybe for Safe at Home. That Britney Spears song would work too.
At a Drug Educators Conference: Sweet Leaf. Or any reggae songs ever written, starting with Pass the Dutchie.

Or, “The First Cut is the Deepest”.

Not sure if this is an Urban Legend, but supposedly played at a wedding for the Bridal Waltz…

U2 - Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For

I’ve got some friends who used Pink Floyd’s Comfortably Numb as the first dance at their wedding. Disaffected, drug addled hallucinations make for romantic moments.

In fairness, they claim it was the song that was playing when they first met at some party, but it seems like an odd choice all the same.

Another funeral song

the pixies “Monkey Gone to Heaven” (especially a fundamentalist funeral)

now that’s funny.

True story:
May 4, 1970: The national network interupted the show I was watching to make the first announcements about the shooting of 4 students by the Ohio National Guard at Kent State University. After the newsbreak ended, the network went to a commercial. It was a cigarette commercial for a menthol brand called Kent. Their slogan was “What a good time for a Kent.”

A world class WTF moment.

At an AAA meeting:

“One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer,” “I Drink Alone” (both by George Thoroughgood), “Red Red Wine” by Neil Diamond, “Secret of the Bottle” by Jackyl (Sample line: “I feel better when I’m drinking”)

That should “at an AA meeting.”

:smack:

I don’t know. A bunch of songs about drinking (also with songs about driving) could be definitely improper at a AAA meeting.

Would likely get some ladies MADD.

This was actually played at a wedding I went to - and they also played “If Loving You Is Wrong, I Don’t Wanna Be Right”. I was waiting for “Me & Mrs. Jones” next!

Better for a AAA meeting might be:
sammy hagar “I can’t drive 55

Primus “Jerry was a race car driver” works for AAA or AA

Jerry was a race car driver
22 years old
Had too many cold beers one night
And wrapped himself around a telephone pole.

At an after-wedding disco I attended, Elvis’s Suspicious Minds was played. Great choice, Mr DJ.

If I remember correctly-- and I usually don’t-- there was a Simpson’s episode where Marge was on hold with Social Services trying to get the kids back from Foster Flanders. The hold music was: “Baby come back

In the obscure category:
ben folds five “Brick” at a baby shower

“Baby Got Back” at a Weight Watchers meeting.

I don’t know if I remember that one, but I did love the Homer-goes-to-the-insane-asylum episode. Marge calls the asylum and gets put on hold, then starts crying to the hold music - Patsy Cline’s “Crazy”.
