While OP’s boss sounds like a jerk, I get the impression that the OP likes to make excuses and play the victim instead of fixing problems. If it is critical that you receive every phone call then either fix your phone or get another phone.

You could tell your boss to get into a hot tub without you, then he will be so relaxed he won’t care if you answer his calls.
