in light of recent events is xmas ar ground zero tacky ?

As I’ve said on the alternative xmas song thread

I usually send out my online holiday greetintgs with wierd als christmas song " christmas at ground zero"

I’ts a mid 80s dig at the nuclear war panic that was about back then by describing a nuke attack on christmas

but wiht the recent usage of “grund zero” by everyone I dont want to look like a jerk

So whats the opinion around here?

I don’t know, I never heard that song, so going on the title alone, I’d say skip it this year.

Of course, I also hate Weird Al, so I may be biased.

Rose

If you want to use Weird Al in your Christmas greeting, why not use The Night Santa Went Crazy? It’s still violent, but it has nothing to do with nuclear warfare.

Nighty, Xmas at ground zero has always been tacky. That’s the point!

I have been thinking of this song in recent weeks as well. Althogh the subject matter has nothing to do with the WTC tragedy I would think most people wouldn’t bother to figure this out. In addition, I think people will still be hyper-sensitive about the tragedy and not in the mood for a song dealing with megadeath.

Here’s a couple other “anti” Christmas songs:

Lonely Christmas Eve–Ben Folds (Grinch soundtrack)

I Won’t Be Home For Christmas–Blink 182 (B-side I think, not sure)

I Will Be Hating You For Christmas–Everclear (Secret track on So Much For The Afterglow)

You’ve been doing the same song for years?

This year, send Bing Crosby. Everybody will understand, and you’ll get just the cringe you’ve wanted.
