What’s the deal? It’s not showing up on the main page… so I guess it’s coming soon?

I dunno either, but it won’t let me log in–keeps telling me smugly, “You are not logged in. This could be for several reasons…”
Probably it’s not fully operational yet?
My guess would be that it’s going to be a single-post only forum, where you post only once to put your Humble Opinion about something on record, but you don’t necessarily want to hear any feedback or rebuttal. Something closer in spirit to taking out an ad in the paper.

Cool; the more the merrier. What’s this new forum gonna be about?
In a word, opinionating.
It’s a forum for all those things that are not quite General Questions but more than MPSIMS, maybe leaning towards(Not so)Great Debates.
It’s also a place where people can have polls, run little contests, vote for what they like and dislike. You can be Prom Queen every day over there if you like (and enough folks vote you in).
We’ll be getting started in just a few minutes.

I had thought at first that IMHO was replacing MPSIMS because, as been mentioned, some of the emotional baring of soul taking place in MPSIMS was not so mundane after all.
But now that I realize that IMHO is in addition to MSPSIMS, all I can say to the mods is good luck, you’re gonna need it, because I can see no real difference between the two fora and I’m predicting it’s gonna be a mess.
Of course, no need to really listen to me, I hardly ever get over to MPSIMS in the first place. But, you’ve been warned by someone with the gift of Cassandra.

As I’ve stated in the forum itself, IMHO is for the questions that are in MPSIMS that aren’t big enough for the Great Debates forum. Sort of a Not-So-Great Debates.
After a while, it will have it’s own identity.
I really love this. This little section of the SDMB has a bunch of us blathering about what it’s going to be and boy oh boy isn’t it going to be fun, but it might NOT be fun because it’s just like something else, sort of, but man oh man I can hardly wait until it opens, regardless of what it is, because it COULD be fun and… It reminds me of those times that you play with your dog and you say in a real nice, excited, friendly voice, “Oh, Rover, you’re such a stupid dog! Yes, you are! You’re a real idiot, you know that?” and the dog just wags his tail and smiles that dog smile and says in doggie language, “Yup, yup, yes I am, yup, yup!” They just get so damned happy that someone is paying them attention - regardless of the content. Ah, well, it could be worse - we could each have a life.
