Is anyone planning on being there early tonight? inkysplotchy got back from Wisconsin last night at about 2:30 am, so he’s probably napping. I can get there by 6:30 or so. And Mrs. Interrobang!? is actually interested in coming, so we’ll definitely have a full table. (If we end up with 7 people, she’ll not play – she just likes hanging out anyway.)
Everyone from last week in, except for the otherwise occupied Cervaise? And is amarinth planning on coming? Anyone else?
I keep intending to come. Really I do. But last week I was studying for an anatomy exam. This week I’m supposedbe to finishing up the last of my school applications. But by next week I’ll be unemployed so I ought to have enough free time to show up at trivia night.
I wasn’t clear earlier, I see. inkysplotchy will be there, just not necessarily much earlier than 6:00 or 6:30. So we should have at least 5 people.
pendgwen, you’re welcome any time. But I figure if we invoke your name often enough, you’ll eventually, like Beetlejuice or Bloody Mary, have to show up.
Dunno if anybody’s still reading at this late hour, but suddenly I’ve been cut loose from tonight’s rehearsal and can show up for fish & chips, trivia, alcohol, and smart-alecky conversation. Not necessarily in that order.
Big thanks to the extra people who cam and allowed me to get the 12 hours of sleep I seem to have needed. Hope there weren’t any questions in the last 20 that only I knew the answer to, though that’s a pretty slim bet, since if only I knew the answer, the questioner wouldn’t even know the correct answer.
Interrofrau!? thoroughly enjoyed meeting everyone, and was sorry to have to leave early because of headache onset. She went home and went to bed, sleeping so soundly that I had to get our apartment manager to let me in after five minutes of knocking didn’t work. Next time I remember the cell phone.
As for the last 20 questions – we missed these:
Which president’s wife was the first to be referred to as the First Lady?
Which country has the largest Sherlock Holmes fan club?
Figueroa Street, the world’s longest street, is in what city?
How many teaspoons in a cup?
What’s the fastest breed of dog?
Which city is home to the world’s largest Gothic cathedral?
What percent of an onion has to be sugar before it’s considered sweet (within 3%)?
Which English word features all five vowels in reverse order?
What was Billy Crystal’s character’s name on Soap?
Who finally conquered the Roman Empire in the 5th century?
Pilematology is the study of what?
What’s the currency of Turkey?
Which TV show just won Best Comedy at the Golden Globes?
According to the quizmaster:
Mary Todd Lincoln (not Dolly Madison, as we guessed)
Japan (not USA)
Los Angeles (not Mexico City)
48 (not 36)
greyhound (not borzoi)
New York City (not Washington, DC – I knew it was the US, but not which city)
6% (not 15%)
subcontinental (not unoriental – good guess, Lady Aguecheek)
Jody Dallas (not Joey)
someone and the Vandals (not the Visigoths – didn’t hear the answer, but know we didn’t get it)
kissing (not vampires, sadly)
Turkish lire (not the dinar) The Office (not Sex and the City)
Anyway, we were 3 points out of first place, which seems to be a popular position for us. It was a really strong showing, in a Joe Lieberman sort of way.
Just a suggestion, but would people like it if we brought other games to play to fill the dead spots? I love talking to people, but I’m also a bit of a game nut. I do tend to get competitive though, so if people would like to keep it to talking, I’m cool with that.
I’ll be at George & Dragon about 6-6:15. My significant other is unavailable. Cervaise is sidelined by art this week, and amarinth said she couldn’t make it.
Will we still have a team of 6? Will we see Cargogal, Jodi or pendgwen? Will we yet again come in 3 points behind first place?
So many questions. (Specifically, 40.) Let’s hope for good answers.
