Here’s the rundown, if you’re not familiar: a ragtag group of Seattle Dopers meets every week or so to play pub trivia at one of the local bars. Our most frequent haunts are the George & Dragon in Fremont, which runs a quiz every Tuesday night, and the Irish Emigrant in the University District, which quizzes on Monday nights. We usually do one spot in a given week. We’re also open to other venues.
Anyone is welcome to join us, though it’s a good idea to check in in this thread so we know to keep an eye out for you and you know where to go.
Note: we usually lose. Not badly, but frequently. Be prepared to enjoy the food and company and forego tens of dollars in winnings.
We’re back from sunny Florida and I’ve caught a cold. I think we’re up for tomorrow (smoke free better for the lungs, apparently), but I reserve the right to back out at the last second depending on how my nose feels.
There is also a Tuesday night trivia out at Redhook Brewery in Woodinville just to add it to the list of possible venues.
From their website:
“Tuesday Night Trivia
It’s time to put on your thinking caps! Gather your neighbors… your friends… your co-workers for a fun night of laughs and entertainment and… A LOT OF TRIVIA! Team up with up to eight friends to answer trivia questions and win $35.00 for first place, $20.00 for second place and $15.00 for third place towards retail merchandise, food or beverages at Forecasters. Trivia nights happen every Tuesday, 7:30 to 9:30. $3.00 pints / $9 pitchers during trivia. No cover.”
I’ve checked out this thread in the past, and hopefully my wife and I will make it out this year.
Damn. Looks like my previous post didn’t go through.
Looks like the nose have it. My cold has bested me and I’ve gone home. It’s been some time since we’ve made it, and I’m starting to get annoyed at having to miss it.
Best of luck. And Improvisor, we’ll look forward to seeing you!
Electric Boogaloo: 22 points.
Winning team (Fremont Liberation Army): 30 points.
Mood: glum.
I’ve heard the Redhook trivia night is good, but you have to be there by 4:00 to get a table. I’m all for going, nonetheless. And of course you’re welcome to join in anytime, Improvisor.
Also, I nominate this as our new permanent team name.
Yeah, the couple times I’ve been to the Redhook night it is packed. Basically the whole bar is playing which fits maybe 150+ people (including standing room only). But they do have a good mix of pop-culture, history, science questions so you’re not answering questions like “Name Paris Hilton’s boyfriend” kind of stuff. There’s also some hard-core teams there too. Like teams that have 5 or 6-week winning streaks that show up, take it really seriously, and don’t drink beer… which is why my answers always get a bit more loose towards the end of the game.
I’m off Mondays for the next couple of months – PEPS is back in session. I’m up for Tuesday this week, but if people want to do the IE tonight, I can skip the week. Or we can run two teams in two locations. Or whatever.
