In the Dockers ad, who sings Go, Boy, Go?

I made an honest effort. I spent the last 70 minutes trudging through every place I could think of, looking for a couple of simple answers.

In the Dockers® ad, happy handsome men are running and jumping as a small combo (piano, drums, and a corduroy-voice girl singer) performs. “Go, boy, go…Now, stop. Go some more.”

Who sings? Who wrote the song? It sounds retro, jazzy.

Astonishingly enough, some digging around reveals the singer was a young boy from Detroit named Frankie “Sugar Chile” Robinson, who started his recording career in 1949 at the age of nine.

After his recording contract with Capitol was up in 1952, he fell into obscurity. As of 2002, he was still living and apparently played piano in a Detroit music festival.

… and unless I’m mistaken, it’s the same guy in the Dockers, not a succession of different people, with the idea being that you can wear Dockers for all the different running & jumping needs of your life.

Well, I’ll be darned. The Sugar “Chile” Robinson record came up fairly early in my search, but I was looking for a woman singer. :smack: Anyway, thanks.
