In the history of the SDMB has anyone ever been wrong about more things than adaher?

You should check out Yahoo Answers. It’s right up your alley.

Or Ask.com, or maybe www.imafuckingidiot.com… hey! is that you?

Well, those sites are better than the Liberal Spin Message Board.

BTW, have you ever wondered why Straight Dope needs a Pit, whereas most other discussion boards don’t? Just think on that for a bit.

I think it’s because posters like you are the norm on other boards.

I know how to be civil. That seems to be challenging for enough of you that you had to have a forum.

They have something like this in juvenile reform schools, a place where kids can go and fight under supervision. The better places just don’t need a Pit.

Sigh. 1. I was saying that “ACA is not single payer”, is… a critique of ACA! I also gave another standard liberal critique of ACA: it doesn’t have a public option.

  1. Britain doesn’t have single payer, AKA “Medicare for everyone”. It has NHS: National Health Service. In the UK, the national government owns most hospitals. They do have a parallel private health system though. So again: Single Payer is like Medicare, National Health Service is like the Veterans Administration (which incidentally is fairly cost-effective).

  2. If I am reading the French link correctly, France has single payer. More specifically they have, “…universal health care largely financed by government national health insurance,” and not incidentally, “‘close to best overall health care’ in the world,” according to the World Health Organization.

  3. The example you are looking for is Switzerland, which unfortunately was not on the chart. I understand that multi-insurance company systems tend to be expensive. The Netherlands wasn’t on the chart either, though my memory is sketchy in that instance.

  4. Holy shit, you really are a fuckup aren’t you?

Ha! Wrong again! That has to be a record: saying one thing then directly contradicting it in the very next sentence.

The Town Square-The Alley(appears to not be in use but it’s there.)
Debate Politics-The Basement Forum
US Politics-The Flame Zone

You were saying?

The first isn’t in use and I can’t find the other two, even if I search the page. I’m sure they exist, but apparently they are only visible to assholes.

Debatepolitics, which forums is it between? I see that there is a Basement Mod team mentioned, but I don’t actually see, nor can I find with a search, the actual Basement.

It’s listed on the rules page. It might be inaccesible unless you’re a member.

The Flame Zone is at the very bottom of the forum list.

Wrong AGAIN! runner pat is definitely NOT an asshole and he can see them.

I logged into USPOL and found that they do have a Woodshed. Established Mar. 2013, so it’s understandable that I might not have noticed. And there’s actually very little flaming going on there, it’s mostly just another debate forum, just with no moderation.

Perhaps some Dopers migrated there and wanted to feel at home.

How very civil of you to say so.

Are you suggesting that I might be a hypocrite?

That’s one possibility. Or it could be that you didn’t notice the contradictory nature of your statements.

It really is quite a marvel to watch. This isn’t just someone sticking to a particular wrong-headed theory and refusing to budge from it, like the current Holocaust denial thread or the Penn State thread. It’s virtually every statement on any subject. How is this even possible?

Even this is laughably wrong- the thread I linked to includes numerous other criticisms of the ACA, including of the 30 hour rule in the very first post!

Adaher, the problem isn’t you being conservative, it’s your very, very lazy posting. You just put no effort into trying to be correct. It’s as if you have no problem with being wrong, and so you never verify your statements. Why didn’t you read the thread I linked to if you were going to say something about it? I only linked 3 posts and 1 thread, because I only looked for a few minutes.

Most posters don’t hit “Submit” until they’re pretty sure what they posted is correct. That involves a tiny bit of effort, usually. You seem to skip that step. You really shouldn’t.

To take a more serious approach, I think this answers my question. It is a common failing of people at the farther extremes of the political spectrum to assume that the world works the way they think it ought to work and therefore it’s safe to act and speak accordingly without checking to see if this is actually so. I’m tempted to say this is primarily a conservative mindset but I suspect that we hear it more from the right at the moment simply because the right is more dominated by its extreme element right now, whereas the leftist extremists are largely exiled to the social and political hinterlands and thus don’t get as much airtime.

And while we all have our moments of “Well of course the way I see things is accurate and anyone who doesn’t agree is clearly delusional” - which is a very human trait - some posters (not just adaher) make a disturbingly **frequent **habit of doing so without stopping occasionally to consider the opposing view or to verify facts.

IMHO adaher posts on the basis of how he thinks things ought to be and quickly runs into trouble when they ain’t so. Whether he can change is entirely up to him, but I’m not confident based on responses thus far.

Too amusing. You probably also have difficulty finding your ass with both hands.

This stems not from said region being miniscule, but rather a forest/trees conundrum. i.e. You can’t find your ass because you are composed of 100% ass.

My evaluation of him—what I said before—is that he has a reckless disregard for the truth. He doesn’t care what’s true and he’s willing to say whatever it takes to support his conclusions.
