Yea, Clothahump, that is the key question, the one runner pat is making there; and so far every contrarian source out there just thinks that by saying SUN! that is the evidence, it does not work that way.

Sun & climate: moving in opposite directions

A number of studies have used a variety of statistical and physical approaches to determine the contribution of greenhouse gases and other effects to the observed global warming, like Lean & Rind, Foster & Rahmstorf, and Huber & Knutti. And like those studies, they find a relatively small solar contribution to global warming, particularly in recent decades (Figure 8).

It’s not the Sun

As illustrated above, neither direct nor indirect solar influences can explain a significant amount of the global warming over the past century, and certainly not over the past 30 years. As Ray Pierrehumbert said about solar warming,

“That’s a coffin with so many nails in it already that the hard part is finding a place to hammer in a new one.”

What I see coming from many false skeptical sources is to claim that scientists do not take the sun into account, that is a big lie, and it is way past the time for conservatives to demand better from those sources, or they should be dumped so then we can indeed look at good information on what to base the solutions and adaptations that will be needed for the future.

At 5:41 there is a neat explanation on why only by adding the sun activity is that the sensibility of CO2 and other factors is found to match the past temperatures, it is thanks to that research that scientists can tell us that the current warming observed is not caused by the sun and it is reckless to bet that CO2 has “reformed” from the way it behaved in the past.
