Thanks for the kind words, folks, you are a great fan club!
Seriously though, I know I’m wrong a lot, I know I’m not the smartest poster here, but I also think I have insights many of you haven’t heard or dealt with before, especially the huge number of you who live inside the liberal bubble. I serve a purpose here, at least until better Tea Party advocates come along. I respect a lot of the conservative voices here on this board, but most of the best ones are pretty moderate.
And believe it or not, I am not all that partisan. I just have a personal beef with Barack Obama for tearing down a good man and not being the different kind of politician he promised to be. On that, I’m clearly not wrong. If Clinton is elected in 2016, you’ll find me to be far less cantankerous.
The reason I say “inside the liberal bubble” is because some of you don’t seem familiar with a lot of the facts that conservatives live and breath, even for the purpose of just debunking them. and sure, a lot of the things conservatives believe are wrong, but we only find out they are wrong by talking to people who have an interest in debunking them. We see the same thing on the left, except a lot of those facts go unchallenged because everyone wants to believe them and many of you aren’t willing to test the merits of your arguments against opposition.
That’s because they aren’t facts. That’s what debunking shows. You don’t even know what the word “fact” even means, do you?
Okay, what “belief commonly held to be fact” by the people you define as liberals have you *ever *debunked? Or know of having been debunked? Just tell us your favorite example, that’ll be enough. One.
There is no liberal bubble. What you are describing is called “reality”.
There is no facts, that’s why we haven’t heard about them. You can’t expect sane people to know what goes on in the delusions of madmen. By all means, post these arguments, but do so inquisitively, not assertively, because they are most likely wrong
THat’s your problem. You are making an argument that liberals are so never wrong that I won’t even be able to think of one example, and conservatives are so never right, that virtually everything conservatives know is wrong.
Such a belief system is so absurd on its face that it doesn’t even require debunking, but here’s one example off the top of my head: government spending provides stimulus. Here’s another: poverty causes crime. The first has no empirical evidence to support it, only theory, and the second is just demonstrably and provably wrong. The most hilarious part about it is that now that we know lead was a major cause of crime, liberals now find it PC to say things that conservatives said for years, but which were “racist”: criminals tend to be dull-witted and lack impulse control. But that’s exactly what lead exposure did to people! It made them stupid and less likely to control their baser impulses! but now it’s okay to say it because the lead did it.
And thus you prove the point. Do you even realize how absurd it would be for an ideology that enjoys the support of twice as many people as your ideology to just be wrong and stupid in every facet, whereas your ideology has all the answers?
I know conservatism has been wrong about a lot of things. It’s also been right about a lot of things Liberalism is also wrong a lot, and right about a lot. If this argument was already settled, the ideologies wouldn’t still be so successful whereas many others have fallen on history’s ash heap, like socialism and monarchism. Conservatism can be wrong about individual issues, but it cannot just be wrong in general.
It’s true. The Democratic Party, as lefties often complain, is not a left-wing party, because there are more moderates in the party than liberals. Liberalism is very unpopular. I guess liberals can comfort themselves that being right is what makes them so unpopular, but I could be that delusional too if I wanted to be.
And yet you’re defining anyone who has the temerity to bring up some of those pesky “facts” things as a “liberal”.
Here’s a hint: It isn’t about political opinion here. It’s about reality vs. delusion. It’s about fact vs. bullshit. It’s about fact vs. ignorance. You persist in taking the second of those in every single fucking topic.
How’s the Romney Administration workin’ out for ya so far, huh?
I thought we were to hear about some major liberal idea that can be conclusively proven to be false. Instead, I hear about lead paint and the crime rate.
Whether or not the crime rate stays the same, decreases, or bursts into a nationwide conflagration of savagery, removing lead from paint is a good idea. It is bad enough when people choose to be retarded, there is no reason to make it inevitable.
