In what all ways did the TACO insult cause trump narcissistic injury

So trump has malignant narcissism, which a subtype of narcissistic personality disorder.

Malignant narcissism means you have traits of narcissism, sociopathy, paranoia and sadism all at once. Erich Fromm once described it as ‘the quintessence of evil’

Narcissistic personality disorder is at root a mental health disorder where deep inside someone feels worthless, valueless, shameful, disgusting, pathetic, helpless, etc due to intense childhood trauma. Donald trumps father fred trump was a sociopath (according to his granddaughter) and donald’s older brother drank himself to death.

People with narcissistic personality disorder attempt to overcompensate for these deep seated feelings of worthlessness, shame, vulnerability and defensiveness by creating what is called the false self.

The false self’s job is to be the opposite of the traumatized authentic self. Powerful, admired, respected, in control, envied, invulnerable, brilliant, rich, successful, desired. The false self’s job is to prevent the person from feeling all the childhood trauma they experienced.

People like this can become obsessed with money, power, respect and earning approval from high value people (rich, famous, attractive people). They also live in a fantasy world full of delusion where everything that does not support the narrative of the false self is derided as false.

When someone does something that threatens the false self, all the unconscious feelings of shame and vulnerability from childhood come back. The narcissist suffers what is called narcissistic injury. This causes them to lash out in a rage and to become obsessed with revenge, to deny the event happened, to never let the issue go, etc.

The TACO comment caused narcissistic injury on multiple levels.

  • Trump admires rich people, and the fact that rich people were making fun of him behind his back threatened his false self.

  • Trump is seen as a coward and a chicken, which threatens his false self.

  • Trump saw that people were smarter than him and invested based on the fact that he’s a chicken, showing he’s not smarter than everyone.

  • The TACO acronym has mexican connotations, a group that Trump considers himself superior to racially and geographically.

  • The question was asked of him by a woman, the gender he considers beneath him.

Basically Trump’s false self was attacked from multiple angles simultaneously. He is probably furiously plotting revenge as we speak. So how will this revenge play out. How will he rebuild his false self after such a massive narcissistic injury?

  • Will he start seeking revenge against wall street for making fun of him? If he does, will this cause any friction with the plutocratic republican party?

  • Will he come back next week and deny the conversation ever happened, say it was fake news and that the TACO acronym doesn’t exist? People with NPD deny reality if thats what it takes to maintain the false self, as Trump has proven over the years with his 30,000+ plus lies in just the first 4 years in office.

  • Will he look for ways to get revenge on the reporter or the company she works for?

America is in an abusive relationship with a malignant narcissist and his 77 million enablers and golden children. And its fun watching the abuser suffer.

I am guessing that neither the word nor the acronym will ever pass his lips, nor those of his boot lickers.

I am worried he will only acknowledge it by actually implementing higher tariffs.

Narcissistic stroke? I can dream.

We already know he holds onto insults - real or imagined - indefinitely. This is another thing that will live rent free in his head and eat at him until he dies.

I think everyone should keep needling him with it. Put flyers all around DC, keep posting it on X. Maybe we can drive him to losing it and doing something outrageous, even for him.

Yeah, I forgot about that option.

in order to rebuild his false self (and get revenge on wall street) he may put tariffs in place and keep them in place. This will crash the stock market (and allow him to get revenge on wall street for making fun of him) and make him feel like he is someone reliable, which builds his false self.

The entire US economy will suffer, and people will lose trillions, but at least Trump’s fragile ego will be protected.

The technical term for when the false self totally falls apart is narcissistic collapse. But a stroke would be even better.

I was really hoping Trump would lose in 2024, and then he would be sentenced for his 34 felonies and suffer narcissistic collapse. That would’ve been great to watch.

Is narcissism really about someone who feels worthless? The narcissists I’ve met seemed 100% genuinely pleased with themselves, if anything, way over-pleased and over-satisfied and feeling ultra-high-worth.

My understanding is that it is about 60% genetic, and the rest is mostly due to childhood trauma where they felt ashamed, worthless, vulnerable, defective, inadequate.

Yes the narcissists are pleased with themselves, but watch what happens when their false self is attacked. They basically panic, start lashing out. Make fun of a narcissist and see how they react, or call their attempts to impress you pathetic and see what happens.

Also having narcissistic traits and narcissistic personality disorder aren’t necessarily the same thing. Someone can be really successful in life and be extremely self confident from it, but that’s not the same thing as overcompensating for deep seated psychological wounds.

Then there’s the fact that people with anti-social personality disorder can exhibit narcissistic traits, but people with anti-social personality disorder are not terrified of shame the way narcissists are.

Beria, who was Stalin’s head of the secret police, probably had anti-social personality disorder. While Stalin was dying, Beria was cursing him. When Stalin opened his eyes and looked at him, Beria fell to the floor and started begging, crying and pleading for mercy. When Stalin went back to sleep, Beria got back up and started cursing Stalin again like nothing happened. People with ASPD don’t fear shame the way people with NPD do.

The BTK serial killer likely had ASPD. In court he described all his crimes without any emotions or shame. The shame a neurotypical person would feel from admitting to those things (torturing and killing women and children) didn’t phase him.

Basically the human brain is complex and it sucks, and someone showing signs of self confidence doesn’t mean they have NPD.

Perhaps “seemed” is the operative word here. I haven’t met those folk, so you probably know better. I’ll say that the biggest narcissist I have ever encountered put a lot of effort into his image, but knowing him intimately and hearing him relay tales of his abusive, hateful father it was clear to me how wounded he actually is.

Next State of the Union, as he walks down the aisle: Dems start going “Buck-buck-bar-ruck!”

Like renaming the Gulf of Mexico, he’ll ban the use of the word TACO, to be replaced with AMERICAN PIE.

If he does, I think I can guess which song might be sung at him.

Lily Allen’s “Fuck You”? Actually, that should be the reaction to everything Shitstain in Charge says, but what do you have in mind?

Obviously the TACO meme gets under 45/47’s thin skin. A fair portion of his political emergence and attack shtick comes from giving opponents nicknames that stick. That he’s a glass jaw bully isn’t a surprise.

A fair swathe of his faux-economic strategy will adversely impact his most adamant followers. Indeed it targets them. Will they accept this as the pain they had to wear or demand a reversal on their interests: “We sent him to Washington to drain the swamp, not kick sand in our faces.” But does the Plan B; “At least he pisses off the LIBs” still hold if they are getting their jollies laughing at him.

America doesn’t like political leaders who change course. You can file for bankruptcy multiple times. You can sit on the wrong side of of a civil/criminal trial and still rebuild. But in politics you mob really don’t like flipflops.

And yet. There is no long queue of presidents, prime ministers, foreign ministers or ambassadors outside the White House seeking to make trade deals. The bond market is lurking like a harbinger. The demise of the exorbitant privilege is looking increasingly likely.

The MAGA base might well get burned and turn whether he doubles down or he backflips. My money is on doubling down until an appropriate scape-goat is identified.

It’s gotta get worse before it gets better. And it’s gotta get worse.

This depends on how much media and especially Wall Street keep using the acronym. “We made out well on trades today because TACO,” and shit like that there. Other references would help. I would say TACO in regards to how well that ending of the Ukraine/Russia war went down. It didn’t? Oh, well, TACO.

What happened to DOGE and the $1 trillion we’re supposed to get back? The leader left? A kid is in charge? Why can’t the business genius take over the department himself because he’s all about saving money and not paying people? TACO.

Etc.

Large TACO signs would also help.

He just did. Doubled steel tariffs from 25% to 50%. He’s perfectly on track to destroy the American economy.

Very good and thoughtful analysis in the OP, I must say.

Bye Bye Miss American Pie, of course.

Trump has heard the term but only in a press conference. Now he is angry with his boot lickers for not telling him about it.

He had not yet heard the term, according to a senior White House official who acknowledged to CNN that the president was caught off guard. Trump had said as much at the time, saying “I’ve never heard that” before calling it the “nastiest question.”

< snip >

Trump also vented his frustrations to his team following the exchange, sources familiar with the matter said. He was not only irked by the term itself but also by his team’s failure to tell him about the phrase gaining traction.

Of note though is Trump clearly cannot take what he regularly dishes out. How many derogatory names has he come up with for political opponents? “Sleep Joe” or “Crooked Joe” or “Joe Hiden” or “Crazy Hillary” or “Kamabla” or “Comrade Kamala.” It’s a long list. But he gets called a name and that is just the “nastiest” thing ever.

You’re not alone in thinking that (more broadly than just TACO).

Tim Walz Tells Democrats to 'Bully the S***' Out of Donald Trump - Newsweek

Minnesota Governor Tim Walz urged his Democratic colleagues to “change the attitude” of the party and “bully the s***” out of President Donald Trump in an effort to pass long-standing left-wing goals and policies.

I’m living in a strange alternate reality where the word taco is now an appetite suppressant.

We could amp up the campaign by referring to the presidential Cadillac, “the Beast”, as the Taco Truck, and celebrate it by rewriting the lyrics to “Disco Duck”. This Caddy actually hauls The Beast" around.
