In which Otto praises a unit of gov't

Otto wrote

You may not be stupid, but are certainly less than truthful when you suggest that this sentence

and this sentence

are the same.

Ah, these words flow much easier from your mouth, don’t they Otto? I’m sure you had work a bit to pronounce “praise,” “support,” and “appreciation”. I’m surprised you found them in your vocabulary, let alone found the generosity to apply them to yourself.

But then you are a generous fellow, aren’t you. Classy too.

Oh wait, I think I understand. Bill H is not only rock stupid, but batshit crazy too! Either that or he’s trapped in some Orwellian nightmare where war is peace, freedom is slavery and “you did the right thing…” is “I am criticising you.”

Look, ya stoat-fondling nitwit, I’ll explain this for ya one more time, in words that even someone of your painfully apparent limitations should be able to understand.

The Madison Common Council did a good thing when it substituted the word “sympathies” for “prayers” in its resolution. The Madison Common Council did another good thing when it refused to debate the resolution again. I like very much what the Madison Common Council did. I am happy and pleased by its actions.

Do you get it now?

Um, who cares?

Otto wrote

Oh, I get you.

Oooh, Bill, that was so witty and scathing that I almost started crying the first time I heard it in fourth grade.

matt_mcl, you I don’t get (in this thread). What was that about? And for that matter, what’s your interest in my comment? Did I offend you in some way? Or you just can’t stand by while Otto is slandered?

Otto, you sure do hide your praise well. It takes a careful reading to get that you actually did mean it, underneath the overall anger and sarcasm of the post. And for the record, I agree with you. Yee har.

Think what you will about Otto’s rant, hon, but that limp retort was a crime against nature.

Careful, Otto, or you, too, might join the One Trick Pony[sup]TM[/sup] Club.

Yeah, Otto’s been wearing his cranky pants a little too tight lately (as have I, evidently), and even I’m yawning a little reading some of his posts, but, truth be told, nothing he’s posted has been very far from the truth - it was better for a local government to remove religious overtones from its legislation, the jerkwad in the Navy who wrote derogatory phrases on bombs and the Navy who released the photos to the public were wrong, and I can’t remember the other one but I remember thinking he had a point.

This, too, shall pass.

Esprix

You know, Esprix I was this [sub](holding my fingers really close together)[/sub] close to busting out the OTP title for Otto. But I didn’t, and I would have been wrong if I did – it’s a tough title to earn. He has posted about other things lately, just like you were posting about other things whenever you were crowned the original OTP. But, in both cases, its really easy to only focus on what rubs you wrong about another poster and overlook everything else.

But Esprix, you used to love it when I wore tight pants…

You know, I look at the reaction to this thread and I honestly can’t figure it out. I really don’t understand how the OP can be interpreted as a slam of the Madison Common Council, beyond a very minor backhanded one about wondering why they’re bothering with an anti-terrorism resolution in the first place. I just don’t get how these simple straightforward eight sentences saying what a good job it did in handling this issue got mutated into “oh look, Otto’s trash-talking the government again.”
