Inaugural Celebrations - what did you do?

OK, just wondering what everyone else did to celebrate Dubya’s inauguration…

I celebrated with a very large and satisfying Inaugural Poo®.

I slept through it. Till about 8 pm.

I do believe Natalia took an Inaugural Poo as well. Eew!

I watched the Inaugural Parade and laughed at all the protesters.

“Bush and Cheney have got to go… Hey! Hey!.. Ho! Ho!”

Mr. Jeannie and I slept until almost noon. Then we got up and watched VH1 for a while. Then we remembered that today was Dubya’s big day. We watched CNN for roughly five minutes, then went to rent movies. It’s been a special kind of day.

Well, first off i sat back a while thinking over with great satisfaction that this is the first day of the Bush and Dick Administration (had a good chortel over that)

Then i went to a birthday party for my Uncle (This years highlight: my uncle yelling at my kid brothers “HEY! IF YOU LITTLE BASTARDS HIT MY WINDOWS WITH ANOTHER SNOWBALL I’LL COME OUT THERE, RIP YOUR ARMS OFF AND BEAT YOU WITH THEM”)

All in all, for one of the darkest days in recent history i had a pretty good time.
Upham

Watched it, of course, like the good little poltical junkie I am.

Last time there was a switch between poltical parties I went to the inauguration and taped CSPAN. How’s that for dweebishness, eh?

I used my breadmaker for the first time, watched The Lion King 187 times (my daughter is heavily into that flick right now), made my 4000th post, crocheted a little, harassed my cat, watched some TV (after my daughter decided to listen to Mama and “let Simba have a rest”), and I think that’s about it.

I saw a little of the Inaugural Parade. Dull, really. Liked the First Lady’s “Republican cloth coat,” though. Nice shade of blue. Stood out on such a crappy-weather day.

Well, living in DC and having to put up with the crowds and tourists all week, I stayed home. Watched the ceremony on TV and watched the parade to see if I could spot Olentzero in the mob of protesters and see if he got arrested, then headed out of town with Sqrlcub and a friend to eat dinner and see “The Gift.”

I believe this makes you more of a dweeb than Maeglin.

Did anyone who watched the debacle notice if Dubya was wearing boots? Apparently he had a ridiculously expensive pair of cowboy boots custom made for the occasion - complete with Presidential Seal on the front of them. I am oddly disturbed by the thought that he did, but I had to work today, so I didn’t get the chance to see for myself.

Quietgirl was supposed to go to the inaugration, but the trip was cancelled because of the weather.

She told me that she’s disappointed, as she wanted to protest.

A severe disappointment, but the Tzeroling got sick and Mrs. O had to work that morning. So I stayed home and kept an eye on the kid.

Watched most of it on TV and did hear some chanting as W made his way back to the White House after the whole shebang, but damn, did it get underplayed.

Still, would have been great to be there.

I spent a festive evening trying to drive into Virginia.

[Bitch+Moan mode ON]
Because of the brilliant way the DCPD had the streets blocked off combined with the way the streets naturally alternate 1-way, I was hearded back to my starting point twice. I finally managed to drive north far enough to be able to circumnavigate the whole area- it took me over an hour to get into VA. It usually takes me 10 minutes.

I did a little reading, watched about 5 minutes of coverage while I ate breakfast, played around on the computer, then cleaned my apartment.

All in all, just like every OTHER Saturday around here…

I missed the inaguration because I had a basketball game to watch. We won the national championship in 91 and 92, but had an 8-year drought during the Clinton administraion. If we win again this year, I’m convinced there was a left-wing conspiracy.

I watched the swearing-in. I wanted to watch the parade, because quite a few of my friends were in it (Kilgore College Rangerettes), but my brother was playing N64 pool.

Well, my protest wasn’t quite as overt as the ones Quietgirl and Olentzero had planned, but may be more effective in the long run. I participated in a planning meeting to bring a famous radical Episcopalian bishop to speak here in the armpit of the South. (Well, we’re above and to the right of the “heart of Dixie” on the map, so “armpit” is about the right body location.

I slept through the swearing-in (but caught the video online later), and watched a bit of the parade so that I could cheer some of my residents who were in it (in Marching Mizzou, “the Big M of the Midwest”).

I smoked a big fat doobie.

What inauguration?
