I never do either. I figure that we see his name with all five letters capitalized so often that it’s just a small way of trying to restore some balance to the universe.
I think it’s safe to say that you are completely wrong about this. It will be remembered, quoted, and remarked upon for a long time to come. Part of that is definitely because of the contrast to his predecessor, but also because of the specific message and theme he was promoting.
The former presidents, except the one they are symbolically burying. But not there, of course.
Actually, I understand they will let the cat bury him, as she always does. Good cat!
And if she’s like my cat, she will do a very thorough job! I watched my cat in the yard the other day and she took a good 10 minutes to bury… um, the stuff she needed to bury. Of course, it’s not like she had anything else to do. She doesn’t have a job or anything…
What is the name of that marching group in the Revolutionary Wary costumes? God, I love them! They used to come to San Antonio during Fiesta Week and I’d drive all over town to see them. When they switch into that slow step-- holy cow, I’m goosebumps all over.
Presidential Historian Michael Beschloss:
“It was a terrific speech”
Fox News Anchor Chris Wallace:
“I thought it was a great speech…I’ve been listening to these inaugural addresses since 1961 – John F. Kennedy – ‘Ask not…’ I thought this was the best inaugural address I ever heard.”
Can anyone explain to me who has to turn towards the President when they walk by and who doesn’t? Looks like the band didn’t have to at all (reasonable) but people just marching some did and some didn’t. Is it just officers maybe?
Andrea Mitchell was just saying on NBC News Live : “at precisely 11:59:59, the nuclear codes were changed and the nuclear football transferred to Joe Biden”. Music to my ears.
It’s a big endeavor. They have about 5 or 6 hours. They’re spending a couple hundred thousand dollars. I heard there will be 90 (?) people working on disinfecting the White House.
