Inconceivable! My brother & his family have not seen The Princess Bride!

Annotated? I’ve only been able to find the translation with the Shepphard woodcuts.

Not only have I avoided that one but ET and thousands of others as well. I just don’t do cute very much.

Yes, annotated by Carl Linnaeus, who classifies each and every creature mentioned. RUS rodent giganticus illigetimus, for example. I was disappointed that I did not find the two volume appendix, but it was still quite a find!

The Princess Bride* is not cute.
Giants, torture, infernal machines, rodents of unusual size, murderous pirates, Wife murdering plots, but no cute.
And very little kissing. :dubious:

I brought this thread up to my wife just now…she has also never seen it! And has no desire to rectify the situation!

I’m calling my lawyer in the morning.

Disagree. Harumph. It’s not a smart kids movie. It’s a smart movie, period. I didn’t see it as a kid, I saw it as a college age guy. (I’m 50, BTW)

You have excellent grounds, Sir!

I belong to your club. And, sorry, **carnivorousplant, **but PB does sound cute.

I have been reading this on Kindle and just finished his description of the swordfight and the emergency rewrite thereof. Loved the aside that Inigo’s shrug was an ad-lib.

Did I mention the shrieking eels?

My take on it.

I’m on your side – sounding cute is enough for me to switch channels or pick another movie.

First time my dad watched it, he thought it was a stupid movie. Then he stayed in the room when a friend and I watched it. Couple viewings later, I gave it to him for Christmas.

Forced marriage, duels to the death, kidnapping and murder, alcoholim, ultimate suffering.

And twue wuv, lets not forget twue wuv!

Except taxes.

and miracles!

Just never rush a miracle…they can turn out rotten.

It’s one of my “test” movies. If you don’t like it, it’s highly unlikely we’re going to be friends.

Sorry, PB haters.

I’ll repeat very much what I said in November last year, in the above-linked thread of Leaffan’s.

Never seen the film or read the book. The only thing which might (an unlikely situation) persuade me to change said state of affairs, is the seemingly everlasting Internet-wise craze for quotations from the film – occasionally, I’d appreciate having a better idea of what the quoters are on about.
