Indiana Jones and _____________________

I would watch this movie. It sounds fascinating.

Indiana Jones and the Lady of the Lake. As a follow up to The Last Crusade, Indy goes in search of Excalibur and Avalon. Merlin and Celtic mythology are part of the story.

Indiana Jones and Something About Vikings. Alfred the Great needs to be involved somehow. Maybe something involving the baptism of Harald.

Indiana Jones and the Lost Tomb of Beowulf. It starts with interpreting a runestone that leads to a magical Icelandic relic…

There ought to be at least one Indiana Jones movie set during World War Two; but I’m blanking on what it should be about.

Indiana Jones and the legend of Zelda. Speaking to a new generation. It can be animated, so it doesn’t matter how old and decrepit the actors are. Indy rescues Princess Peach, with his trusty sidekick, Link.

This would give an opportunity to see how Indy met Wu Han, that guy Lao Che shot in the opening sequence of Temple of Doom. For that matter, we need to see how Indy was introduced to Short Round.

Indiana Jones and the lost city of Atlantis

Indy and Atlantis has been done in a video game but would be perfect on the big screen (I haven’t seen the latest film but I’m assuming Atlantis doesn’t feature). This synopsis is mine though.

In the mid 30s, Indy (played by a younger actor) meets a drunken old sailor (played by Ford) who claims to have visited the legendary Atlantis after he was the only survivor of a WW1 battleship sinking.

Indiana Jones and the Well-Tempered Clavier. In 1943, Indy’s quest to decode the “squiggle” on the cover of Bach’s manuscript leads him on a journey through the dank underworld of Leipzig as he slowly pieces together a centuries-long conspiracy involving the Lutheran Church and the classical-music establishment. Now the race is on to preserve the evidence before the Americans bomb the city into oblivion….

Indiana Jones and The Devil’s Triangle
Indy is supervising an archaeological dig in Puerto Rico when a Spanish galleon, in perfect condition, but centuries old, drifts in and runs aground on a sandbar. For some reason, Indy gets involved and joins the boarding party. The ship is devoid of crew, but clearly of 16th century design and construction; Indy notes that it must be genuinely old because the door to the captain’s cabin is made from a type of timber that went extinct centuries ago. On the captain’s table, there is a meal of cheese, wine and fruit, still perfectly fresh, as if served only moments ago.
Returning to the main deck, Indy finds a mysterious inscription carved into the gunwale; part of it says (in Spanish) ‘The light of the oceans’, but the rest of it is in an unknown script. Indy ponders the meaning of this and we see him look slowly up, and out to sea. Other vessels are also drifting in; a US Navy cargo ship; a seaplane; a tall-rigged frigate; as well as many other smaller vessels, some of them quite primitive and ancient-looking.
On exploration of some of these, further clues are found, hijinks and peril ensue; Amelia Earhart turns up at some point.

(The light of the oceans turns out to be sentient phosphorescent algae that function as a neural network hive-mind and they can manipulate space, time and history; suddenly, now, the real treasure was already is inside the ocean all along)

Ok, hands up, how many of you cheated and used AI for these?

Indiana Jones and The Banner of Gengis Khan. Or The Gorgon’s Head. Once you see it, you of course turn to stone, and it can compel you to do so. Indy thankfully has experience in not looking.

None of them stand out as being AI generated to me; here’s the sort of thing you get if you try that:

Title: “Quest for the Celestial Amulet”

In a world on the brink of chaos, young archaeologist Indiana Jones stumbles upon an ancient legend of the Celestial Amulet, a mystical artifact said to possess unimaginable power. Alongside thrilling action sequences, the team develops unbreakable bonds, discovering the true meaning of friendship and courage. With time running out and the fate of their world hanging in the balance, Indiana and his newfound allies must unlock the amulet’s secrets and confront their inner demons to stand a chance against the warlord’s dark forces. “Quest for the Celestial Amulet” is an epic adventure that takes audiences on a rollercoaster ride of discovery, danger, and destiny, as they witness the power of unity and determination in the face of overwhelming odds.

ChatGPT stories are pretty easy to spot; it likes groupings of three things:

  • charming rogue, brilliant inventor, reclusive sorcerer.
  • treacherous landscapes, deadly traps, fierce adversaries
  • thrilling action, unbreakable bonds, discovering the true meaning
  • unlock the amulet’s secrets, confront their inner demons, stand a chance against the warlord
  • discovery, danger, and destiny

Indiana Jones and the Lost Nazi Gold Train Movie.

  1. You get Nazis.
  2. Goolllldddd.
  3. Indy is just making a movie about a search for the gold train on location in Poland which is now a free country.
  4. Just a cover for the actual search for the train.
  5. Booby traps and skeletons galore.
  6. Nazis, communists, Wagner group, allies, govt. men (top), old Nemesis.
  7. European adders.
  8. Hints about the Amber Room (sequel of course).

Oh – perfect!! There’s already a Carl Barks Donald Duck story they can lift images from – The Golden Helmet

Hey! The Gorgon’s Head is intruding too much into MY territory.

If you want to do Greek mythological quests, go for The Golden Fleece. Lots of historical resonance there. And, of course, there’s a Carl Barks Uncle Scrooge story he crib from – The Golden Fleecing

The TV series mentioned by @mbh established Indy’s birth year as 1899/1900 and that he lives to see the age of 94, at the very least.

Don’t you see? Indy was born a teenager, having sprung fully formed from the forehead of Sean Connery Henry Jones, Sr.

Indiana Jones and the Mechanical Brain

I had thought about that, it’s a bonus to get Western People interested in Eastern History/Culture.

The catch here though is The Heirloom Seal of the Realm is reputed to give it’s owner Eternal Life…so a Grail knockoff, but the ‘can’t ever leave Petra’ fine print was created so perhaps another limiting factor could be created. However, in Chinese culture this particular Jade seal implies Divine Authority (the mandate of heaven) to the owner. So perhaps the supernatural power could be Mind Control if this is Ridley Scott directing or the owner could invoke a supernatural Terracotta Army if this is a Peter Jackson flick.

I’m the big picture guy, I let all the work-a-day office drones scurry around to take care of all the grisly shit.
