While I found bigneck and Infidel and Wabbit (why is s/he being overlooked here?) to be really way beyond the line in that other thread, I’d also like to say that I don’t think Slacker deserves to be lumped in with the rest of them.

You may notice that he doesn’t say what he considers funny. Is it funny that Guin’s kitten is going to die? Is it funny that some assholes are berating Guin for cursing god when her kitten is going to die? Is it funny that posters are getting angry at said assholes? So it seems that people getting angry that Guin is being baited and berated is what amuses poor Slacker. How funny! Why didn’t I catch the humor in that! Must be too subtle I suppose.

Sorry, but a statement like “[This] is downright funny.” just after someone being mocked and berated for their grief is not innocent, it’s trolling. His response to me reads like “HAHAHAH, I got you! You fell for my trap!”, and as such is trolling.

Demise, I respectfully disagree. Emotions were running high in the thread, and while I found it a bit inapropriate for **Slacker[b/] to say he found the thread “funny”, you jumped to conclusions and immediately went on the attack.

Then Slacker responded with the amount of venom you came with.

I’m not saying that it was entirely OK, but people were overreacting all over the place, and if you look at it objectively (at least IMO), what s/he said wasn’t nearly at the level of those other three.

Not to nitpick, but you didn’t exactly politely ask me what I found funny, you just assumed the worst and attacked.

And do you even know what trolling is? Posting something to the discussion that’s irrelevant just to get reactions. If I’m guilty of trolling, then you’re guilty of it ten-fold.

Thank you Lynn for your drop, kick and punt. If only some football teams had as good a player as you, they’d go to the Super Bowl every year!

Anyhow, I felt that Infidel was being a complete ass, BigNeck comes a close second and anyone else that had to harp on a post rather than the message of pain a fellow SDMBer is going through.

It’s never “just a cat” or “just a dog” or anything like that. Guin was in pain, you stepped on her heart (or so many of us felt) when she was down. How I hope you don’t carry that in your real lives.

I lost my cat of 14 years in Sept of 2000. The people here on the SDMB and on Fathom were my best friends in supporting me, something I will never forget. All my family were out of town and my best friend was dealing with issues of her own. If it hadn’t been for the two boards, I would have slipped back into a deep depression again. I did, for a while but reading the posts again and again I felt that my pain was justified and I later came out of it.

For that, Guin, screw em (middle finger upraised just like Anthony Perkins in “The Legends of the Fall”) and I hope that you know that you have many in your thoughts. Young or old, losing a pet is never an easy thing.
