No, but, it’s the time stone. It is one of the most powerful artifacts in the universe. I’d think it could go a bit further than an hour.
It seems it should at least be a suggestion from a character.
Peter Parker: Mr Strange, since you have a time stone that lets you muck about with time, can’t you go back to before this all happened, and stop Thanos then?
Stark: No, it doesn’t work that way because… …and don’t call me “Mister”.
Line I wanted to hear: “Why is there is a raccoon here, and why is it talking and carrying a gun?” Because I don’t care how many aliens you’re trying to fight, seeing a heavily armed woodland creature would still seem bizarre.
Hah, I said the same on another forum. You see some two headed alien monster and it’s talking and using tools and you think “Ok, I guess this alien monster can talk and use tools”. What other frame of reference do you have?
You see a raccoon talking and using tools and you’re going to be thinking “WTF is up with this raccoon??”
Yes, while opening the force field to keep the invaders centered on them was a ballsy move, a better one would have been to place something outside the the field to keep them contained. Something like, oh, I dunno, war rhinos, maybe.
One of the Black Panther characters who wasn’t in Infinity War was W’Kabi, who was, IIRC, the leader of the Border Tribe’s military unit (and, thus, the rhinos). I wonder if it was a question of “one more thing to throw into that fight,” from a direction standpoint.
Depending on how you mean that, I’m not sure I buy it; isn’t the whole point that Thanos can do more with multiple stones than he can with one? I figure his mental strength and imagination are the same throughout…
Multiple stones let him do more things, yes, but my point is that it takes an exceptionally strong mind just to control one of the stones, and that the stronger the mind, perhaps the more fully that they can use them.
In other words, regardless of whether or not he held any of the other stones, Thanos (being possessed of a very strong mind) could probably do more with the time stone than nearly any other being. That said, Strange is the Sorcerer Supreme of Earth, so maybe he could give Thanos a run for his money in that department.
Your comment reminded me that I forgot to mention how genius it was for Thor to use flattery to win over Rocket. Rocket (at least in the first Guardians movie) hated being called “rodent” or the like, but was OK with it from Thor.
Another (unrelated) thing I’d forgotten to mention previously - depicting Thanos without his helmet for the lion’s share of the movie worked much better than I imagined it would. His iconic look in the comics is with that helmet, but leaving it off allowed the face to be as expressive as it was.
Raccoons have already migrated to space (and learned to use weapons), so is it so hard to believe they’ve already migrated to Africa? They are obviously resourceful.
The Dwarf who made his axe said that it would give him the ability to summon Bifrost, that bridge Asgardians used to go to other world’s.
How they knew to go to Earth, Thor knew two of the infinity stones were there. How he knew to go specifically to Wakanda, maybe he stopped and asked for directions?
How did any of them know to go anywhere? How did the henchmen know Vision was in Scotland the first time? How did they know he was in Wakanda the 2nd time? They landed their space ship in New York just up the street from Strange’s house, how they know exactly where he was? Why did Thanos go to that particular spot on his ruined home planet to get jumped by Stark and the gang?
Why did the people with infinity stones or the knowledge of where the infinity stones where all seem so eager to get close to Thanos? Why didn’t they just stay the fuck away? Gamora especially, the only reason she was anywhere near Thanos was because she damn well put herself there.
It seemed to me that they had some way of detecting a Stone’s presence, at least once close enough to the right planet. Thanos likely knows more about the Stones than anyone else alive in the known MCU at this point. If they can track them, that explains finding Vision in both Scotland and Wakanda, and I think they knew humanity was not exactly a space-faring race to have sent him off-world and into hiding, so just circle the world in their space donut until the scanner goes beep?
And Thanos went to Titan to meet up with Ebony Maw, as he had directed the latter to take the Stone there. The ship crashed at approximately the coordinates Maw had been aiming for.
And… so we have a movie, is the reasoning behind people with Stones not just Noping away somewhere, although I can see Strange hoping he would be able to use his Stone in active defense of Earth. Gamora should have just not gone to Knowhere, but Vision was not about to leave Wanda/Earth.
