Welp, I had to request a new password, and then change to a NEW new password, but our long national nightmare is over.
Is Marley back? Is he the one that said it was a DDOS attack? :dubious:
Anyone know if this was a Denial of Service attack?
Well, finally works now!
Woo Hoo! I’m on.
Like coming back from the dead and after having an out-of-body experience.
Whew, back.
We have no reason to think anyone got unauthorized access or stole passwords. Nonetheless, to be on the safe side, it would be a good idea to change your password. Your SDMB new password should NOT be one you use to protect bank accounts or other sensitive information.
Hi, I’m back too. Great to see all of youse Dopers.
If you haven’t caught the perp, what prevents him from doing it again?
Are there things a large web site (like SDMB) can do to protect itself from attacks like these?
Ed,
Doesn’t seem quite perfect yet. I have to login every time I access the boards. Anyone else having that problem?
Back. On the chance that I’d actually forgotten my password I had it reset. Old one works.
SO glad the board is back. I missed you!
I requested a new password during the outage, and got it, but was not able to log in with it during the outage.
AFTER the board came up (apparently, a fairly short time ago, since I see very few new posts all around), the NEW (temporary) password got me in, not my original password.
I promptly changed that to something else, of course.
Thanks for staying late and sorting this out Ed.
We’ve taken measures to protect ourselves from another attack. You’ll appreciate that I can’t tell you what they are.
Seal Team 6?
Nice try. :dubious:
I am very glad we’re all back!
Same here.
All the mods are now circling the earth on the International Space Station along with Wolfman Jack?
This incident will not be forgotten. Not until the next time someone complains about a mod warning. But until then then I will remember every excruciating detail of the interminable… oh wait, I forgot about some thread I wanted to see.
I got an email earlier:
That IP address is in one of the private ranges. What happened there?
