About 6.7% of American adults have depression. About 18.1% have an anxiety disorder. (Source: NIMH) I can’t imagine the numbers are that different for Canadians.
Oh, good - best of luck to you!
Hey guys. More good news. I had to sleep on it to be sure, but the woman I saw yesterday is the first psych to leave an impression on me that wasn’t a negative impression. She was perceptive, ballsy, seemed to know her shit, and listened well.
That said, these folks belong to Urgent Care, which is technically a branch of psych emerge though they work from the neighbouring building. In the normal course of things, this would mean that in 3-6 weeks I’d be passed off to a more permanent doctor or program. The catch? There’s a province-wide healthcare strike starting… today. Urgent Care are still working AFAIK (I’m scheduled to see her again in a week, so) because they’re classified as emergency, but everyone they’d normally pass patients on to is not.
So, for now, things are stable and I think this thing (crisis? What do you call it?) is over, and the thread will probably wind down too. In the (very likely) event that anything else comes up, I at least know now that I can hit up the Dope.
