I don’t think I understood your OP at all, but in any case I hope I remember that you used to be a seasoned Doper, and are not just a presumptuous newbie, which is how it usually goes.

An event has as many meanings as it has observers. A username is no different. “Inigo Montoya” as an identity was a constant reminder to me of non-positive parts of myself that extend way beyond the occasional mortifying faux pas on a message board. To see that name, everytime I logged in here, was to feel bound to being who I was at the height of my sickness–suicidal, hopeless, worthless, disoriented. Sun Jester (if you haven’t checked out the lyrics) acknowledges a happily chaotic, larger-than-life persona that was painfully crushed into normality. It acknowledges the longing to feel that way again, and the impossibility of returning to it. I can live with being that, because that’s where I am.
Meh…we all check the join date for that. And there are plenty of presumptuous old-timers her as well anyway.
Aw, I love Inigo. He’s a good guy. But I’ll get used the new one too.
