Does Nerf count?
Try a youth model shotgun. That’s what I have.
I have 5 handguns of various calibers, and an HK-91 “Assault Weapon.”
I’m reasonably liberal.
The last time I fired a weapon with real potential for harm, I was a pre-teen with my dad in the backyard, with him showing me how to hold and fire my new Daisy pump-action air rifle.
Unless you maybe count the light guns that came with the Area 52 videogame for the Playstation, that is.
Voted Democrat, social libertarian, fiscally and politically moderate.
Norinco 9 mm
Beretta .22
[not sure of brand] .25 derringer style
.22 rifle
2 black powder pistols if those count
Not exactly an arsenal, but… enough that I don’t qualify for ‘believe in gun bans’.
Dem here, moderate one.
I’m not a big gun person, but I think the Dems should drop gun control as an issue.
I’m left leaning and do not own guns. I’ve shot them, but they have little appeal for me as a hobby.
My father, however, votes Democratic, owns at least one shotgun (and a pellet gun, but that doesn’t count) and is pro-gun control. Which does not equal “strip guns away from everyone” - it means “enforce reasonable restrictions around gun ownership.”
There is a huge middle ground between “I’m so scared of guns, lets melt them all down” and “I think the 4th amendment should allow me to keep a thermonuclear device in my house.”
As long as you don’t give “the man” probable cause, you can! That’s the beauty of the 4th amendment.
Enjoy,
Steven
While true, Geiger counter readings could cause probable cause.
In other words make sure to properly shield your nuclear weapon cabinet with lead.
Btw very liberal, but very pro 2nd amendment here.
I have a Ruger P89 9mm and a Remington Model 870 12 gage Shotgun. I am a card carrying liberal and I believe it is better to arm bears that let some people bare arms…
ETA: I also served in Iraq.
Moderate Democrat, Vietnam vet, retired military. JC Higgins tube feed .22 bolt action; Stevens over/under .22/410; Mossberg .12 gauge pump; Remington .300 H&H magnum bolt action; 1911 A1 .45 auto pistol; S&W model 28 .357 magnum revolver; Hi-Standard .22 auto with interchangeable barrels.
Most of these guns are from when I was a kid. Some were given to me, two I inherited, one was used when I was a volunteer cop. The shotgun I keep loaded with slugs. What are YOU lookin’ at?
Do you think it is as funny as I do when rabid yosemite sam idiots start drooling about limp wristed pussy liberals who are afraid of their own shadow who want to take away the god given right of red blooded REAL ™ Americans to keep nukular tipped rocket launchers in their trailer? I bet many of them never served a day in a combat zone.
I’m with ya. I’m fairly liberal but I’m a strong 2nd Amendment supporter. Have done a lot of shooting over the years.
I will add that I believe in sensible gun control: waiting periods, there’s no real reason individuals need sniper rifles with a 1 mile range or something that can pierce armor, background checks, etc…
I have a handgun, and would like to get another one.
Vote Democrat, social liberal and fiscal middle-of-the-roader.
Mossberg 500, two Airsoft AEGs (mimicing an AK-74u and a Dragunov), and a US flag on the flagpole in front of my house.
I do occasionally have to sweep up the pieces of old cranky person skulls when I have a yard sign for a Democrat under the obviously well-maintained flagpole.
Just want to urge you to rephrase–technically speaking, even rimfire .22HV can hurt someone pretty bad at 1.25mi (although good luck hitting what you aim at past a hundred yards or so with most rifles).
I’m for sensible regulations, myself, but meh. I’ve been clamoring for a gun license system that works like drivers licenses and cars (compulsory, reasonably priced for typical users, and length of training proportional to the frightfulness of the weapon being licensed) with the concession to us gun lovers being the unbanning of automatic weapons with licensing on the order of a CDL.
You bet. Born and raised in Alaska, I grew up with guns in the house and learned to shoot when I was about eight years old. I went hunting with my brother and with friends up until I joined the military. I was taught to respect guns as very dangerous tools, and taught the rules of their proper use and care. Hunting is a way of life for many who live here. Only tourists are trophy hunters; they don’t respect the land or the animals that inhabit it.
I have zero problems with people owning guns, as it’s the intent, not the ownership, that determines their use. I vote hard left, but consider myself to be fairly moderate concerning many issues, including gun ownership. People who sneer about the left and gun rights are just ignorant assholes, IMO.
I’m a liberal Democrat. I defend the whole Bill Of Rights. I own two 9 mm semiauto pistols, one for my big hand, and one for my wife’s smaller hand. I have a Marlin .22 with a scope and a very old school Winchester lever action saddle carbine chambered for the .45 Long cowboy round. An old friend gave me the Winchester. It’s fun to shoot, but I haven’t figured out just what it’s good for.
We have quite enough gun laws, thank you. I know several liberals who won’t vote Democratic because of guns. My party is crazy to chase them away.
Count me in… I’ve got a couple. I’m not a “gun person” though, and I don’t have a carry permit. One’s an inherited piece of junk that I just keep around as an amusing curiosity, and the other’s for taking care of the house.
Just because I’m not into them as a hobby doesn’t mean I have to demonize them though. I’ve never really understood that mentality among many of my lefty friends.
